Ok, I have finally finished the game, I was asked to post a review, and these are my thoughts.
First make no mistake this is a highly polished game, the production values are top notch, from graphics, to voice acting, music and sound are all some of the best you will see this generation. Some of the graphics look truly next gen, and bodes well for what Naughty Dog will do with the PS5.
Combat is challenging and is no walk in the park. Infected no longer wait patiently while you punch out your attackers, but will actively try and bite your ears off or anything else they can sink their teeth into, while you are occupied fighting for your life with another infected, and you can become quickly overwhelmed.
All the usual things from the first game are pretty much the same, crafting, while desperately searching for supplies have the same feel, and all in all the game is well worth playing. and is a worthy addition to the PS4 library, but this game will have it's detractors, especially for many of those who enjoyed the first game, for which I count myself as one.
The first game implanted itself into your soul, you cared about the characters, and their survival mattered, you will not get that in this game outside of Joel Ellie, and Tommy, So you don't feel as invested in the game.
The story is ok, but the biggest flaw with this game is TLOU. It was such a powerful and moving story that any follow up was always going to be compared to it. Without the first game TLOU2 would be rightly applauded, There are some surprising moments, and it does shock you in places, but in summary this game will always live in TLOU shadow, but that does not mean it's a bad game.
I should add there is a lot I'm not saying about this game, I am deliberately not talking about many elements that add to the original gameplay,
Anyone wanting to ask any no spoiler questions fire away, but please anyone posting anything even slightly spoilerish will be deleted, so please respect anyone who has not had the chance to play it.

Just read What Chris H posted, I was avoiding reading the thread. But I can see where he is coming from, this is not TLOU and it won't be for everyone.

Just started it myself the other day. Don’t know if it’s me just getting used to the controls but combat is quite tough. Died on my first real fight with a group of enemies

The combat is better I think. A little bit more nuanced and rather than just bashing Square once you got someone.

This is a quality AAA game, there is some controversy with this game which you will understand when you play it. so good is subjective.
I will say there is plenty of challenge waiting for you.
