Griezmann Yes or No?

Barcelona have been buying dud after dud for a while, they would be well out of the picture if Messi got injured for a season.

Griezmann was dynamite from 2013-18.

Especially around 15-16 when he was quick, good with the ball and lethal in front of goal.

I think after winning the World Cup and signing a big contract at Barca, he’s lost motivation and fitness. He looks unathletic nowadays.

I think people are being overly harsh on Griezmann.

It's fair enough to say he hasn't fit in, and perhaps that he doesn't fit their style. On the flip side, it's been a terribly timed move and just what style exactly he has supposedly failed to fit into is anyone's guess. Having a teenage sensation from the academy staking a claim in the team has complicated matters further, as the fans and local media are always extra-eager for such players to establish themselves.

Griezmann was always heavily over-sold as a superstar-type footballer, but he's also heavily underrated in terms of his on-pitch intelligence.

As for where he might be headed next if Barça did decide to cut their losses, PSG maybe? He's been linked several times down the years, is a French sweetheart, and if it's confirmed PSG are releasing both Cavani and Choupo-Moting, they'll be left looking pretty light in that department.

I think for a while he showed superstar quality.

The goals he scored that sunk Bayern & Barca on route to the UCL Final, then the 6 goals at the Euros where France lost in the Final. The Fortnite ‘taking an L’ dance celebrations at the World Cup.

He’s lost some sizzle since 2016 but he was still decisive at the World Cup and had a legitimate Ballon D’Or claim in 2018 imo.

I’m surprised you like him. He’s not a bonafide blue chip player, and has a history of choking in clutch moments.

Yeah he choked in 2016, particularly when France lost the Euro Final.

But he made up for it when he won the World Cup two years later with France’s ‘Redeem Team’ if you will.

Nope, doesn't fit the profile of this Chelsea team at all.

Approaching his 30's, wages are double our highest earner (Kante on 400k/w), comes with a star name & reputation this team doesn't need, doesn't press from the front, drifts into an attacking space where we're overloaded, etc... nothing works about it.

Tbh with Ziyech & Werner coming in we're pretty much done in the attacking portion of the team, even Sancho would be a step too far. The focus now needs to be on an upgrade at LB, and if we fancy having a go for the title as soon as next season a world class CB.

We don't even need him, need to strengthen defence now.
