Date: Sunday 26th July
Venue: Stamford Bridge
Kick off: 16.00
On 17th July 2019 Wolves played the first competitive game of the 2019/20 season. The opponents were Newcastle United and the game, played in Nanjing, China was the first round of the Asia Trophy. 375 days later the squad travel to Stamford Bridge to take on a Chelsea side who have still not guaranteed qualification to the Champions League for next season.
For Wolves, win, lose, or draw, the season doesn’t end here as there are still Europa League games to be contested next month. Having played more games than any other team in the league, utilising the smallest squad and having to cope with both domestic and European competitions, Wolves have still managed to exceed the 57 point total that they achieved last season, as a result, this season can only be viewed as a success.
Chelsea go into this game on the back of a 5-3 loss at Anfield but with 63 points and 4th place in the table Frank Lampard’s side will be enjoying top flight European football again next season unless Wolves can put a spanner in the works.
Chelsea are the catalyst to guarantee Europa League football for next season for Wolves. If Wolves win this game 6th place in the table is theirs and possibly 5th. If Wolves achieve 7th place and Chelsea win the FA Cup, Europa League football will again be gifted to Wolves (provided that Chelsea are, of course still in the top 4)
Apart from the outcome of this game the final league positions of the two teams will also be influenced by the outcome of the Leicester v Man U and Crystal Palace v Spurs games.
One thing is for sure, Sunday is going to be a very interesting day!
The game will be shown live on Sky Sports Premier League.
Gem’s prediction 2-2

Alas not such a great weekend for me gem. One of my best buddies died suddenly Thursday evening at the age of 39, sat playing cards with his friends.

As for the OP, ''so called big boys'', we're far bigger than Wolves Comparing Wolves to Leeds is like comparing a Babybell to block of Stilton

To be fair to this Leeds supporter if the size of clubs is judged on honours achieved then Leeds are 13th in England. Quite impressive.
Wolves are 11th. That’s one big babybell

we have four more trophies i think. Leeds have only ever won a single FA cup which surprised me but have won in Euro competition.

Condolences Cinci, that's no age to be departing this place. Been a sh!t year this for all round.
My lad just got back from Spain today with his mum just missing the new rules. I suppose he should really be isolating but he's at my place now so fingers crossed and hope for the best now I guess.

Interesting article in the Mail about VAR. There are a few changes to how it is used that are being proposed. Those ideas are coming via uefa and are driven by Arsene Wenger in his role with them working alongside Pierluigi Collina. They want to develop a process to be followed by all uefa countries consistently for next season. And they are looking at whether var is right to change more than clear and obvious errors, why narrow offsides are given when the technology doesn’t exist to prove exactly when the ball is played, the accidental handball rule, and they are looking for refs to make more use of pitchside monitors. We wait to see what comes out of that review for the new season.
The analysis they have done of how var has affected Premier League games has shown Wolves have been the biggest losers. Were it not for var Wolves would be going into today’s game in 3rd place
