Picking up the point made in the article, I wonder if any team has ever had so long a season, and with so many games as Wolves have experienced this season. Don’t know how many days and how many games it could be if we got to the Europa final. Both must be a record surely

Sky are showing 8 games simultaneously on the final day including Chelsea v Wolves on the Sky Premier League channel.

They have the matches at Arsenal, Burnley, Chelsea, Palace, Everton, Leicester Southampton and Man City.

BT have live coverage of the games at West Ham and Newcastle

I feel a little confident about this one, mainly because Chelsea have conceded 54 goals this season (the 8th worst), I'm sure we'll be defensive and maybe rely on counter attacking football.

We will need to be at our best defensively (not like at Molineux in September) Chelsea have conceded more goals than anyone else in the top 10 but still managed to put 3 past Liverpool last night.

We were pretty defensive at their place last season and got a point but were far too open this season at home and got spanked. Chelsea seem like a different side now to the one that beat us, goalscorers Tomori & Abraham are not now guaranteed starters. Pulisic and Giroud (who I think would be a great signing for us) are the danger men. We know we can match any side in this league but they have players that can hurt you and will be desperate for three points. That may suit us and I can see us hitting them on the break if we can keep it tight.

I would go with bringing back Saiss, Dendoncker box to box, Podence & Jimenez up front, with the option to go three up front with Traore and/or Jota later on.

I would probably go along with that team oldgold although it does seem to me that Boly is slightly more comfortable on the left of defence and come next season we need to decide what’s his best position and leave him there. First principle of team selection to me is play your best players in their best position

Matt Doherty is set to make his 300th appearance for Wolves on Sunday. Signed for a nominal fee from Ireland he has played top flight down to League One and back again and is now playing the best football of his career.

I keep reading that Doherty is a bit of a marmite player, which I would possibly put down to him being a relic of the McCarthy era and people not being willing to accept that anything good came of that time. Which is all nonsense because Doherty has always been a quality player but has improved hugely under Nuno and is one of the best in the country in his position. The most baffling thing about his career is that he's only played 9 times for his country.

With Coleman as captain he isnt really going to get a look in.

Is Doherty a marmite player? I've not really seen anyone really criticise him much.

Has a tendency to switch off defensively at times, but has been a great servant and is one of the best wing backs around.

doherty certainly did have critics, on here and molmix. mostly from the idiots who would have praised him if he was matteus dohertino.

When was this? It mush have been a long time ago. He has been popular since he won player of the season the year he covered at left back in 2015-16.

Matt Doherty is without doubt the most underrated player in the squad. We are not as strong defensively or as dangerous going forward when he is not playing. The understanding that he and Adama have took a while to build but is now as good as the Jimenez/Jota understanding was at it's best.
One thing Doherty does better than Jonny, Adama, Vinagre or Buur is to find space to provide Coady the chance for that long diagonal outball.
So many of breaks start with Doherty and many opposition attacks end with him too.
No Marmite here, for me the guy is pure gold.

I think every player gets stick at times in their career, and there are fans that seem to spend a lot of their time looking for faults rather than enjoying the games. I think with Doherty it’s never been more than a minority though.

I think he has been a good full back throughout his time with us but I do think he has really flourished since being used as a wing back. Another example of Nuno getting more out of a player.

Doherty is quality, arguably one of our most important players the last two seasons.

8 goals 11 assists in the prem and 15 goals 15 assists over all comps in that time.

What I like about Doherty is how he is always looking to pass and move; rather than slowing the game down and trying to take a player on. It creates space through his work off the ball.

He is one of the few that I actually think tries to move the ball quickly in the final third. Strange that qiven Traore's pace, I actually think we move the ball quicker with Doherty at RWB than we ever do with Traore there.

He is also key in defending set pieces. He wins so many headers at the back post. I can't really remember him being beaten there.

I think there's two reasons why Doherty hasn't had more caps. One, as RJC says and the other is the fact that MM doesn't play with wing backs and always sticks to 4-4-2. A very reliable players who always gives his best.

I do feel that we need a better RB in the summer, which then allows Boly to play on the left where he's best suited (imo) and gives Nuno the option of playing Dendonker more in midfield allowing him to rest the others from time to time.

We need a RB, another midfield option that can penetrate the opposition box and another striker to take the load off Jimenez at the minimum.

We need to get MGW loaned out as well, the guy needs game time.

I actually thought Boly looked a bit uncomfortable at times on the left side against Palace. Probably just adjusting.

My marmite comment was an observation of mol mix & twitter where a lot of people pre-Nuno were saying Doherty needed replacing. They've mostly gone quiet now but you still see them from time to time.

Broadly agree with that, but suspect they may look inside before looking elsewhere for options. I think the club see Jordao as the midfield option for the future (is he still waiting to come on ?) and they may even see Sanderson as the right sided CB option. Both have had limited opportunities and no Premier League experience. Will be interesting to see if Sanderson goes out on loan again or stays. May depend on whether Cardiff get promoted and what their plans are.

What we really need is either someone to come in and support Raul, be happy playing second fiddle but contribute when asked, and a better strike rate from our other forwards. I love Jota but he needs to be more consistent in front of goal, he's not a kid anymore. I expect Neto to contribute more next season too, he's got the makings of a really top player and I think he'll really blossom next season. Traore too should be providing more goals, hard to criticise him after the seasons he's had but 4 goals isn't great for someone with his quality, pace and power.

Wouldnt be at all surprised if we only bring one maybe two signings in the coming window, with the emphasis on improving what we have.

I don't think Willy has played as well as before his injury, however he is a must on the team sheet every match.
If his best position is left side then we obviously need another right sided defender.
As far as Doc goes, we never play as well without him in the team and as such is invaluable.

Agree with Cinci, we need another midfielder, as I've said before and a striker to back up JImmy.

A defender, midfielder and forward are all must for me. We need to strengthen through the spine of the team and give ourselves more options.

Also, as much as I think he is great; Moutinho isn't getting any younger and we have to be prepared for when his performances begin to drop. He won't be able to continue playing every game long term.
