I didn't realise until just now (reading on BBC) that there is a scenario in which 4th place would NOT qualify for Champions League next season.
If Chelsea won the CL (very unlikely at 3-0 down, i know) and Wolves won the Europa and both finished outside the top 4, then they would both get CL.
As (for some unexplained reason) a maximum of 5 teams from 1 country can enter the CL, 4th place would then miss out!
Highly unlikely to happen, but as "top 4" is banded about so often, I never realised that it was actually possible to come 4th and fail to qualify.

As a United fan, I've had it on my mind for a while that fourth might not be a cast-iron guarantee of CL football. Very unlikely scenario though.

I guess the point (at least in my head) was that Ole could be judged to have succeeded by getting us top 4, only to then be judged as having failed a few week later when 4th counted for nothing, in a matter that Ole has nothing to do with.
It's just semantics, but "top 4" isn't the must.
CL is the must!

Well that’s not true is it? We are in the Europa League and can potentially face Wolves. He’d have a lot to do with it. But it won’t happen so it doesn’t matter.

We are due a win. It is amazing we have won only 17 PL games with stats similar to a team that have won 31 PL games.

Well we completed league doubles over the 2 sides 2nd,4th and 5th scoring 13 and conceding 1.
