Didn't Everton come 4th and miss out when Liverpool won the champions League?
Happened to Tottenham under 'Arry
No that was Spurs. Everton messed up the qualifiers.

No.
Chelsea won the CL and Tottenham Hotspur missed out.
So, Ole could deliver "top 4" and it wouldn't mean a thing until after the final whistle of Chelsea's 2nd leg.
Bizarre!
They changed the rules after Spurs missed out to allow 5 qualifiers yeah?
So now it has to be that two non top 4 teams win CL and Europa

Everton only missed out as they lost their qualifier.
But I do think they may have changed the rules after that season?

They had to change the rules, as Liverpool didn't actually qualify for the 05-06 CL, so they had to rewrite the rules to let them in. They hasn't envisaged a team as poor as that Liverpool side actually fluking their way to victory in the tournament
I thought everyone knew this? There was plenty of talk about it last season when four teams were in the hunt for top four and the English clubs going well in Europe.
Obviously won’t happen this season. Chelsea are going out.
*for the last two top four spots

They're also very likely to finish in the top 4 anyway
As a United fan, I've had it on my mind for a while that fourth might not be a cast-iron guarantee of CL football. Very unlikely scenario though.
Yeah but there’s a slim chance they still drop out. There’s no chance they win the CL.

True
I guess the point (at least in my head) was that Ole could be judged to have succeeded by getting us top 4, only to then be judged as having failed a few week later when 4th counted for nothing, in a matter that Ole has nothing to do with.
It's just semantics, but "top 4" isn't the must.
CL is the must!

Well that’s not true is it? We are in the Europa League and can potentially face Wolves. He’d have a lot to do with it. But it won’t happen so it doesn’t matter.
We are due a win. It is amazing we have won only 17 PL games with stats similar to a team that have won 31 PL games.
Strange season, we could end the season doing doubles over Man City, Chelsea and Leicester City.
I stopped reading at ‘if Chelsea win the CL.
(Tempts fate )
Well we completed league doubles over the 2 sides 2nd,4th and 5th scoring 13 and conceding 1.
