We have a tough run of league games coming up starting against Spurs next week.
Unlikely to happen however for me Pogba has to be dropped and VDB needs to replace him. VDB is very much in the Bruno mould constantly finding space, always wants the ball and works his socks off. Pogba on the other hand has been utterly abysmal both games and has been a passenger. Looks like he is lacking fitness for a start. I'd play him in the Carabao cup games and bring him on as a sub in the leagye games over the next few weeks to build his fitness up or change the game if needed. He is a luxury player and can do stuff most CMs in the Premier league can't do however for me he will never be top level simply because he doesn't work hard enough nor is he consistent.
Our next 5 league games are tough and will shape our season one way or another. Play like we have been and we are getting nothing from most of them.
Drop Pogba

Before you condemn Pogba, did you ask yourself whether he is well used by the manger ?

He was crap for Mourinho, too.

Its cause we bought Bruno who is without a doubt better than Pogba in the advanced role in that midfield.
We'd be better off selling Pogba and buying a CM who can actually play the role effectively.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
this may or may not be true. but it does then invite two questions:
1) why buy bruno in the first place? it is possible - possible - that the club had a firm plan in mind to buy bruno, sell pogba this summer, and this was all scuppered by covid. but given the transfers we've made over the last decade, i wouldn't credit them with this much forethought; and
2) who are we buying to replace pogba? who are these legendary midfielders out there who "control" games and who we can sign? modric? kroos? thiago? everyone saying "sell him" should realise that we'd be more likely to end up with sean longstaff or declan rice for £60m, than to sign niguez.

That’s not just true. Inconsistent yes but I would bet he had more MOTM’s than any other player under Jose.

Arsenal are looking to sign Aouar for between £35-£45m. He is better than all of our CM's.
To say there aren't players out there is pretty ridiculous.

there have been players out there for the past decade, and we've ended up signing matic, fred, schneiderlin, schweinsteiger, herrera and fellaini.
this is why we've spent c. £1bn over the past 9 years and here we are. i'm asking what makes anyone confident that we can sell pogba for x, buy AN Other for y (y being less than or equal to x), and improve.

What I don’t get is why Ole has changed his utilisation of Pogba so much.
When he first came in he used Pogba as the most advanced of a midfield 3 pretty much a number 10. Pogba was creating and scoring goals and getting on the end of crosses etc.
For a while his goal involvement was actually the highest in Europe and he was looking like one of the worlds top players.
Then Ole decided to push him deeper.
Doesn’t really make sense.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah this is my issue too. We are complaining about a player being utilised to do something he doesn't do.
Not only that but his role has been diminished a lot. In terms of no freekicks etc
In Bruno and vdb we basically have roles that Pogba should be doing
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Bruno is a *far* superior number ten than Pogba.
He has better work rate, movement, acceleration, balance, short passing, feet in close quarters and quick release than Pogba - all essential attributes for the ten in our system.
Bear in mind that in Ole’s system, the number ten leads the zonal press. Then imagine Pogba playing there every week.
Pogba has two options: learn to deliver at number six on a consistent basis, or find another club.

And I wouldn’t drop him, yet.
He’s had corona facking virus for fack’s sake.
If people actually listened to Ole they’d hear him telling us all that Pogba isn’t nearly fit yet but he’s starting because he needs minutes to get back up to speed.
