We have been missing Vardy, Maddison, N'didi, Ricardo, Castagne, Soyuncu and Evans at some point this season. All would have been considered starters. We've also played games with wingers, teenagers and reserve team players in defence with full backs covering as centre backs.

I'm not disagreeing with the basic premise. Liverpool would be my pick to win the league. But is it extraordinary? Not at all. That's what squads are for and why the biggest teams, with the best squads, tend to win titles.

Big blow losing Joe Gomez, hopefully we'll have Matip alongside Fabinho, and Thiago in front of those two, and return to the top of the table after the Leicester game. 🙂

To be honest I wasn’t fishing for compliments I was simply pointing out that other teams have injury issues that are at least the equal of Liverpool’s. The difference is they don’t have the squad to cover and don’t have the attacking players that Liverpool have at their disposal in the first place.

So if Liverpool win the league there will be nothing extraordinary about it. That’s not to say that back to back titles wouldn’t be a great achievement- just not extraordinary! I’m still expecting your closest challengers to be Man City no matter what the table says at the moment.
