I took Jose's comments about Willian's wages being too high for him to come to Spurs to be a little dig at Bale (or at least the club's decision to sign him).

Will be interesting to see if Jose can find a role for him in 2nd half of the season. I don't think Bale's going to turn into a massive track backer any time soon either way and I would guess Jose understands that.

Hope he comes good but although it's good to have him back, would be a shame if it was a reason too late.

Glad Jose doesn't feel pressured to slot him in anyway.

I don't doubt that he OK'd it, but that doesn't mean that he led on it.

The comment about him knowing Spurs don't pay the kind of wages Willian demands don't make any sense to me any other way that's all. He knows Bale's on more than Willian would have wanted, and I struggle to see how Bale fits in to Mourinhoball atm.

I honestly don't think Jose wants him. He's still a good player but he doesn't suit our system as he doesn't have the legs to work as hard as Jose likes his players to work. I think he's close to his max in terms of fitness. I don't think it's about giving him games, he's playing every week as it is. I just think he's a shadow of his former self and both the fans and Jose are finding it difficult to accept that. He's 31 and had a pro career that started early at 16 at Southampton. With the exception of Giggs who's a bit of a freak, most players who rise early end up retiring early. Then there's the injuries that have taken their toll. It's similar to Michael Owen for me. He was finished by his late 20s really, or not the same player of his youth. Unfortunately I think the same applies here.

One thing we have to ask ourselves - is what he's offering up top good enough to justify being a passenger out of possession? Not for me. I'm hoping he miraculously comes good but it's exactly that, hope, not expectation.

We have been seriously lacking a player like Bale in recent years who can come off the bench and change a game in the second half.

Yes he probably will never get back to his best but say we make a cup final this season and are 1-0 down after 70 mins, who do we want coming on... Dele, Lamela or Bale?
