I think the word front-runners in this case is more about the favourites tag as opposed to the points on the board.

Up until those final weeks, people still thought Leicester would be caught. Remember those infamous Spurs shouts “Leicester City, we’re coming for you”

Nobody talks about Arsenal bottling it that season when they were 1st in the table longer than Spurs. They were 1st in the table going into the new year then their form fell apart from Jan to March. Couldn't beat Stoke away, lost to Chelsea and Swansea at home. But Spurs in 2nd place after a long winning run, lose to West Ham away in a tricky derby game and we "bottle" it.

What are you on about lol. Everyone talks about Arsenal bottling it. This was the season that the AKB majority realised Wenger was finished.

This doesn’t mean that Spurs collapse was not much more spectacular and hilarious though

Nobody other than Arsenal fans would talk about them bottling it that season. Spurs were the ones to bottle it according to other fans and people in the media. Spurs are almost like the scapegoats for Arsenal bottling it worse, if you like.

i agree. tottenham were the only one of the big six thought to have a chance of catching the unfancied leicester, that is until they finished third in a two horse race.

I remember you beat Leicester 2-1 late on and the way your players and fans celebrated was as if the hard work had been done and you winning the league was a foregone conclusion.
