Derby County 2 - 0 Swansea City

Pride Park
Derby

1730
Weds 16 Dec 2020

That's a FIVE THIRTY kick-off
1730
5.30pm
30 minutes to six in the six IN THE EVENING.
Stupid O'clock

Fresh from a battling display against Stoke, which with a little more belief, we should have won. Goal scoring seems to be a block to our progress and the lack of goals has gone from worrying to risible back to exasperating.

I feel more than a little guilty about TL being injured and out. As soon I am urging him to put more effort in, he does so and then promptly injures himself. Perhaps if we want him to play, we should ask that he does not try too hard.

Shinnie should be back but I fear that it could be the last we see of Curtis Davies this season or maybe longer

Swansea are a very neat and competent team. But we do seem to play competently against the 'good' footballing sides, so who knows?

Team news:-

Marshall (C), Wisdom, Shinnie, Bielik, Jozwiak, Waghorn, Byrne, Kazim-Richards, Clarke, Buchanan, Knight.

Substitutes: Roos, Forsyth, Bird, Sibley, Evans, Holmes, McDonald, Stretton, Hector-Ingram.

Did anybody think the pitch looked awful last night ? Clearly we've had rain but I've never seen it looking that bad....it resembled the old BBG pitch. Wonder if it had been given an "extra watering" as Cloughie used to do to give us an advantage....any thoughts ???

It was said on Radio Derby before that their manager said he was looking forward to his team playing on a great pitch after complaining about the state if the Cardiff one, so might be something in that.

Morning all,
Keep the flame of hope burning. We will turn the corner and get a couple of goals. Maybe this evening is the time. I'm happy to leave team selection to Wayne and his team and will sit back with a drink of something relaxing before stress levels rise too far. Who knows, our lads might get some early success to prevent the rise in stress to even begin. Forest winning might prove the spur, though I think they don't need a spur, more an injunction to take more care to put the ball into the net when chances are created.

I want you all to know I take all (most) of the credit for last evening's brilliant performance against a very good and in form Swansea side, I was wishing it all day and I got what I wished for. I had a glass of malt whilst Mrs Ramdini was cooking my dinner, and it was ready to eat just as the final whistle blew.

It is unfair to highlight any particular player. They were all magnificent and the defence was so solid against the leagues's most prolific attack that Marshall's contribution was limited to just two superb punched clearances only a minute apart.

In contradiction of the above however, Bielik, Clarke and Buchanan deserve a mention. What a brilliant young left back Buchanan has developed into! And think how much Clarke has advanced, He was everywhere he was most needed last night and never put a foot wrong. As for our diminutive and bearded Scot, he was also aggressively, every where and stopped many and many a Swansea attack before they even got started. But back to the theme above - the lads were - everyone - magnificent in that game. If they continue in that vein for the rest of the season. play-offs or even autos are very possible.

Well done Ramdini your wishes came true. I couldn't believe how well we played and it was so nice that the defence weren't passing back all the time. I said before in this thread that Cocu looks a worse manager every game we play and we also do better with 11 players who give a bit of fight, by that I mean in the football sence not cowardly little fouls when the player has his back to him.

Happy Christmas to you Ramdini and to your wife, look after her.
