Surely not!
I will certainly give up on Edu and Arteta if they even contemplate this signing.
And what will Balogun be thinking.

People do realise there is no chance we are signing him, right?

Tabloids linking Costa because of edu. I agree with DJ, in that Wolves will probably sign him to cover for Jimenez

I kinda think that's exactly what we're all hoping for here. Thread's more past experience caused dread, than hopeful eager anticipation. You gotta remember, as long as ke is the owner...
Nothing can be ruled out except willingly paying top money for top players. Because at ke's Arsenal FC, there's always a bum to be had if he thinks it'll save him spending like a proper billionaire owner.

You forgot "big reputation when he was worth owning" That's the most important thing for the owner. Thinks it's like MLS where you can just give a few PL/La Liga grandad's a big wad of cash and they'll tear it up and bring you home a title.
Somebody really should explain that granddad big names play for big money in the MLS for a reason. Because they're too damned old to be of any use in the PL/La Liga anymore. So stop stuffing up the squad with his stupid cheapskate team plan.

And if Balogun has his heart set on leaving we might as well sell in Jan and put a sell on clause in there instead of losing him for free.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't think Balogun's really thinking of leaving.
His agent is the same guy who dragged Bukayo Saka's recent contract renewal right down to the wire last October.
Same guy who also manages to get a Jadon Sancho transfer rumour into print every other week.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Saka was a regular last season and Balogun is 4th choice striker right now, I would fully understand if he went to Germany for game time unless we're planning on selling one of our strikers and give him guarantees about playing time.

Exactly this! Been meaning to say it for a while here, but it's exactly the same process by the same company for Saka.
Fully expect Balogun to sign an extension April/May. Same company are also agents for Nketia whose contract runs out in 2022, would have to think he'll be on the move in the summer if Balogun does sign.

A loan move would make a lot of sense.

He would contribute more to the team than Auba.
