Would be another disaster of a move. He’s looked well past it since going back to Atletico.

And what will Balogun be thinking.
======
The kid who has been turning down contract extensions for a year now, with his heart set on a move to Germany? Probably thinking about his move to Germany tbh.

'And what will Balogun be thinking.'

Ich verstehe nicht.

Really hope Balogun can be convinced to stay, he has so much potential. I'm sure the Costa rumours are just invented filler for the tabloids

Agreed, V.

Should be loaning Eddie next month, and trying to move Laca on in the summer, giving Balogun a clearer path to the first team.

Really hope you guys are right as I have not recovered from the seeming disaster of the Willian signing.

Although one cannot predict with certainty how a kid’s career pans out, more should be done to keep Balogun. There is just something about him Eddie does not possess.

I dont think striker is our priority this window. More likely to be a CB and CAM, and hopefully another CM.

Just journos seeing a striker released, and us not scoring alot, then trying to put 2 & 2 together.

yeah, I see Wolves are being linked too, which makes more sense as they need a stop-gap striker, plus being Brazilian he'd fit in well with the wide array of Portuguese players there

We are interested to sign Balogun on a free transfer

We could do with a nasty like Costa, his record at Atletico has been chit though. As long as he doesn't want big wages and we can get decent money for Laca to invest elsewhere it wouldn't be the worst thing.

And if Balogun has his heart set on leaving we might as well sell in Jan and put a sell on clause in there instead of losing him for free.

He won't go to Liverpool why would he given that he will get the same amount of first team opportunities there as he does at Arsenal which is zero. That being said he should of got more opportunities this season. It will end up being another Gnabry situation for us.

No way he won't. Terminating his contract would have hit him in the pocket.
Wondering if PSG have shown interest, with Icardi's injury issues and having to rely on Moises Kean. Depends on who will be the boss I guess.

Costa is exactly who we will get
Another ex Chelsea player come to retire

An agreement was reached to terminate the last 6 months of his contract so he will have been compensated for lost earnings. Hes gone fro injury to injury recently so dont see many teams being interested in him.

Why would he be compensated when he was the one instigating the termination?

Yeah just read he was on 270k at Atletico, so doubt he would accept anything that would make the deal worth it for us.

He will get enough opportunities if he is good enough. Jones, Williams and our goalkeeper got enough games this year.

I don't think Balogun's really thinking of leaving.

His agent is the same guy who dragged Bukayo Saka's recent contract renewal right down to the wire last October.

Same guy who also manages to get a Jadon Sancho transfer rumour into print every other week.

LAUGHABLE!

Complete waste of money on a player we don't even need with any sort of urgency. Not to mention that IMO, you don't want to be replacing 18 yr olds with past it over 30s who can't even manage to stay fit.

Hope it's press guff but sadly nothing would surprise me with our owner. Always trying to fill his garage full of Lambos, without spending more than it costs for a garage of Mondeos. Or up to his elbows in some kinda shady deal which sees a mate or agent getting a crap tonne of money. It's really a wonder we have ANY decent players.

I'd not rule out a Pool move for Balogun either. "Longing for Germany," is far more polite "Why the feck would I stay here? Team's crap and the manager is a complete feckin tool who'll happily kill my career to help a player nowhere near as good as me. So I'm off mate." First half of this season and Arteta's behaviour toward some players make it clear to any youngster the bloke has no qualms about sh !tting all over their career, to give a mate a leg up. Knowing that I could easily be dropped for someone with half my ability, just because he was the same nationality as the manager. I'd have told Arteta's Arsenal to shove their contract renewal too. Get whilst the getting's good. Kid'll go far, all that talent and he's smart too.
