Loved our time in div 2 all those away grounds, I actually joined the supporters club and travelled on the buses, and then the return to the 1st division blowing teams apart, scoring from all over the pitch Alex Forsyth full back with a bullet shot, jeez how to be young free and single again lol

Can we remember today Fergie turned 79 years old, here’s hoping he goes on for another 50 years. Can’t bear the thought of him going too

We might not have won a lot in them days, but during the devastating relegation and the glorious promotion, we stood our ground and kicked the feck out of everybody in our way.

Away games were like scenes from Ben Hur with hoards of Reds as far as your could see. Home games you had to be in the ground by 1.00pm before they locked the gates.

Magic.

Remember the football specials? Used to get off and there'd be about 12 coppers at the station to manage us

The Doc made good on a promise to bring a team to play my home town team Corby Town in a testimonial for Alex Dawson. United had just won promotion back to division 1 and the Doc brought the team south. All I can remember is sitting on my Dads shoulders and the old Occupation Road ground bursting at the seems, and of course, this wonderful team in red. I was 7. That was the first football match I ever saw.

RIP Doc.
