Another new low for the Record

http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/football/spl/2011/09/30/kilmarnock-ace-manuel-pascali-labels-kirk-broadfoot-a-coward-after-death-threat-lies-86908-23456280/

Seriously - when are the Daily Record going to get a grip?

What was nothing more than handbags in the tunnel has now been sensationalised into Pascalis family now living in fear of being attacked by Rangers fans. Has anyone been threatened in any way following this incident? Has anyone even given the incident a seconds thought apart from Kenny Sheils supposedly hilarious comments about Broadfoot not being much of a looker?

So why one earth does the Daily Record think it is in the publics best interests to publish paragraphs like this:

The fall-out from the war of words is set to linger and Pascali admits he's now worried for the safety of his family in the streets of Glasgow with many Rangers fans perhaps already having decided who is the guilty party.

What reason does Pascali have to worry about the safety of his family. Pascali is a total irrelevance to Rangers fans. The vast majority of Rangers fans wouldn’t know who he was if he came up and introduced himself. So why on earth would they want to attack his wife? Because her nobody hubby had a tunnel bust up with Kirk bloomin Boradfoot!!?? Pleeeeeeaaase!

Daily Record – you are a sad, pathetic, irrelevant publication whos current mission seems to revolve around an utter desperation to try and stir up trouble for the Old Firm where there is none.

Doesnt help at all.

I said in my original post that people will believe whats written as gospel and thats the problem - not that they thrive on controversy.

I think your equation vastly over simplifies the situation. If you think I am arrogant because I called you naive then fine. But you are being a touch over sensitive there ducky.

You ask how your argument can be flawed if controversy does generate SOME income. Well, sorry but thats not what you said previously.

You said it was in the business of SOLELY creating controversy and...well that other stuff that was basically the same.

I said the newspapers are in the business of solely creating money.

Absolutely -cntroversy can create some money but if they push it too far like the NoTW did and the record seem to be these days then it turns people right off. If they are solely in the business of creating money - which is my argument then they need to find a balance between controversy as a positive and negative force for generating income.

The NoTW went too far and the Record are going too far. They are in danger fo completely alienating both sets of OF fans with the road thay are going down. I would suggest that will create controversy but wont boost their income.

But you are right - its about opinions. If you want over simplify and say the people that read or talk about an article are merely feeding the beast and not look beyond that to the implications of what happens next then fine.

But for me personally this is another highly controversial article that will make me even less inclined to be a casual visitor to their website even if it is free for me to view.

Why?

Because I think you're an idiot?

Another brilliant example of your 'logic' Hector.

Everyone on here KNOWS you are an idiot. To me that would be a far worse scenario.

You just seem to be so full of bitterness and anger.

Anyone that flipflops through a 'debate' and resorts to name calling because others disagree with their opinion qualifys for the tag of Idiot.

So because you couldn't keep up I am flip flopping. Not my fault you are so easily confused.

And because I called you something it makes me an idiot?

Hector it's an established fact you aren't all there so why don't you just stick to your default level of trying to label us all bigots and not confuse yourself so much by trying to join in the grown ups conversation.
