New Champions League Format

Who’s ready for the Swiss Model?

Andrea Agnelli, president of Juventus and chairman of the European Club Association, has said an agreement on the new-look Champions League structure is close to being complete and should be sealed in the next two weeks.

So, in an effort to continually feck the game up royally, here comes Uefa with a new plan. Will it benefit the fans? The little guy? Will it help bridge the gap between haves and have nots? Will it feck!

In a couple of weeks the format is expected to be announced for the cycle starting 2024. The new comp will involve 36 clubs instead of 32, in what is effectively one big league, but playing only 10 matches each.

Which teams play which will be determined by their coefficient ranking. Y’know, to avoid any big money making machines from going out too early.

So no groups. Just one big league of 36 where you play some of the teams in an effort to get the big boys to the knockouts.

Oh and speaking of big boys, of the 36 teams to qualify for the CL, 2 of them will qualify based on “legacy." So if you happen to be a big club that can earn loadsa money and you happen to not be able to buy a win at home and fail to qualify for Europe, sure don’t worry, you’ll be asked along anyway.

Seemingly the 36 team league will see the top 8 go thru to the knockouts, with the following 16 teams going into a playoff to decide the last 16. This is likely to happen around Xmas/new year when most every league has an open calendar. Most every league.

Looks like more matches and money for the big guys.

Precursor to a super league or a way to keep domestic competitions and have a CL at the same time? Or just a money grab?

Interesting take on things.

What I see is a not too subtle jab at city’s big spending owners followed by you acting like a complete Feckin twаt running around shouting “hysel!” “Murderers!”

Obviously City paid off the judges to get off scot free. You can pay people off but but you can't fool people. Your owners modus operandi is well known worldwide

So you think that's a valid comment?

City fought a long and damaging battle against UEFA corruption and obviously mud sticks with a section of people who are blind to the facts.

You might not like some home truths being thrown up about your fans, I don't like a skipful of bull$hit being thrown at mine.

Dont try to put words in my mouth or make assumptions about my thoughts.

I think your reaction to a jab was totally disproportionate and pretty childish at best.

I dont care for your “home truths” as you’re simply using it to point score, which is a pretty cretinous thing to do.

Imagine how many bungs will be involved if they include this ‘legacy’ BS.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agreed. I can see Man City getting in on legacy even though they have none. Would be typical and your owners are not adverse to the idea of paying money under the table.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Really? We’ve just just been through a lengthy court battle with UEFA and their bent mates and won.

Considering the shame Liverpool brought on UEFA and the rest of football in 1985, a lot of money must have changed hands to get them back up there
=======================

..and that's not point scoring?

I hadn't mentioned another English club up until that point, I was highlighting UEFA corruption until your mate barged in.

I'll leave you cretins to it, you deserve each other.

This comment was made AFTER you brought up Heysel. Whether you admit it or not there is no justification for bringing up Heysel. You did it because that's you.

Using Heysel to point score. Disgusting.

Legacy teams wud b:
Real Madrid
Milan
Liverpool
Bayern Munich

but its still a buncha bs.

especially the part were 'top' teams cannot transfer players between each other so wil instead strip all the few best players away from 'lesser' teams even more than now.
