We just beat the champions elect! The only thread since then are the one dividing people on the arbitrary 'issue' of female co-commentators, and whatever the feck is going on with Kamara's! Lets get a proper thread up. I suppose that was something Jonty was good for. Hopefully he's doing okay, and wherever he is he enjoyed that win. Anyway, here are my ratings. Yes, I use .5s as well as whole numbers. Deal with it.
Illan Meslier - 7.5 - Didn't think he had much to do of much difficulty, but he did almost everything well. His gloves were like glue today, holding everything. Nice to see him running up the pitch to celebrate, too!
Luke Ayling - 7.5 - Thought he marshalled Mendy pretty well, and stood up well to Foden. Possibly go under the radar how well he coped today.
Diego Llorente - 8.5 - One of the two players I'd probably consider for MotM. It was less the cultured possession play we have seen from him previously, but he was a rock today. Intercepting, recovering, clearing, blocking. A proper old-fashioned CB performance, and further demonstrates just how good a signing he could be.
Liam Cooper - 6.5 - I feel harsh, as prior to the sending off I thought he was having a good game, but the other defenders coped so well I think I have probably knocked him down to distinguish that. Wasn't really to blame for the red card for me, and can see why he'd be upset. Hopefully Pascal steps up again in his absence.
Ezgjan Alioski - 8 - Maybe his best performance in a Leeds shirt? I thought he was excellent throughout the game, without the usual moments of madness. Had to be defensively disciplined, and whilst Torres got past him once or twice, he stood up well, winning some vital defensive headers, too. His ball through for the second goal was also a peach.
Kalvin Phillips - 8 - Colossus. Whether its sitting in front of the defence and shielding, or dropping back as another CB, Phillips was throwing himself in front of everything. A player who has really matured into the PL, and is hitting the levels we saw from him last year but to a higher standard.
Stuart Dallas - 8.5 - Hard not to give him man of the match, to be honest. He was everywhere, getting stuck in all over the pitch, covering every blade of grass possible. Been such a revelation. I do hate to say i told you so He took both his goals beautifully as well.
Helder Costa - 7.5 - I suspect it might go under the radar just how well Costa played today. he does very well for the first goal, and showed very good tenacity when we were on top. Was left isolated a bit when his role changed second half, but still got himself well involved defensively. A good performance. More of the same, please.
Tyler Roberts - 6.5 - Struggled to influence the game as much as he has in the last few, which is to be expected against such a good team. The change to striker didn't suit him. Could have had a very nice assist if Bamford hadn't ended up just in front of his ball in, though.
Raphinha - 7 - Was good, but not necessarily at his usual high standard today. Saw a different side of him, full of defensive discipline, and getting himself stuck in. Think he should have done a bit better with his one-on-one, but that is where Ederson shines as one of the best in the world, and we won, so I can forgive him.
Patrick Bamford - 6.5 - Wasn't really involved enough to warrant higher? Only 8 touches, I think they said, and got an assist, though I must admit, the words "why aren't you shooting there, Paddy" had already started formulating in my head when he chose to pass. Shows what I know! Unfortunate and unlucky, but hopefully the early substitution will help him watch his fitness after his injury.
Pascal Struijk and Robin Koch - 7 - Both did very well off the bench, getting stuck in, winning headers, blocking shots and throwing their bodies on the line. We have four good CBs, and I don't know who I'd start when they are all fit.
Jamie Shackleton - 10 - MOTM, surely?
All in all, I am delighted. These are the games I wanted to be in the PL for, and compared to the first half of the season, we appear to be getting better adapted to the. A big loss for anyone claiming that we can't change our style of play depending on the situation, though!
Lubo's Leeds Ratings vs City

I thought we were a bit sloppy with the ball with 11 men - but city can do that to you - they press well and you’re feeding off scraps. But even so we still carried a threat. Without the ball we were superb throughout. Although the Stats show them having loads of shots, they were largely from distance, half chances, set piece scrambles. They rarely opened us up. Can’t argue much with the ratings. De Bruyne may not have played but there were too passes he’d be proud of today... Phillips to Raphinha for the one on one (why did he go to ederson’s right, he’s likely not scoring even if he gets past him.) and Alioski for the winner.
The Alioski pass was outside of the foot , curled and weighted to perfection. A thing of beauty.

Game feels defaulted as we had to drop our way of playing drastically. All players deserve 9 or 10. Did there jobs and won the game

Agree Lubo & I don’t want to get into a tit-for-tat over something as trivial as a female co-commenter.
Great win and one we should celebrate, just beaten the best team England with 10 men.

Dallas is surely a 12.5 today.

Llorente is one of those defenders for me whose effortless but the defence looks so much more structured due to his quality
He seems organised, calm and plays the ball out. Reminds me a lot of Stones. Now he is over his injuries we are seeing why he is in the Spain squad
Outstanding work to get Llorente and Raphinha for 36m-40m between them
If we get Koch fully fit you would suspect that’s our first choice with Cooper and Struijk (who has been superb) as back up. All of a sudden we look well set there for years

Interesting that he went for Struijk before Koch. Suggests he's looking at Llorente and Koch for RCB and Cooper and Struijk at LCB to me. Entirely possible Koch just isn't fully fit yet, and that was the reason, though.

I was wondering that too Lino
Could also be because Bielsa doesn’t want to play Koch for too long straight after injury
Who was it the other day he brought on as a sub early due to an injury then subbed off - Was it Rodrigo - and for that reason

Lubo I think you should do a post match rating on a regular basis.
