Wolves v Sheffield United match preview

Date: Saturday 17th April
Kick off: 20.15
Venue: Molineux

On Saturday Wolves were to return to Molineux for the visit of Sheffield United, however due to the televised funeral of the Duke of Edinburgh, the game has been postponed until a date to be announced.

Interim manager Paul Heckingbottom will lead his side out for the fourth time hoping for his first win since taking over from Chris Wilder.

After a winless run of 5 games, Wolves brought back all 3 points from Craven Cottage on Friday evening thanks to a stunning added time goal from Adama Traore which rounded off a fairly unexciting game.
Wolves currently sit in 12th place in the table with 38 points.

After their 3-0 home loss to Arsenal on Sunday, United remain firmly rooted to the foot of the table with just 14 points

In the reverse fixture – the opening game of the season – Wolves ran out 2-0 winners with goals from Raul Jimenez and Romain Saiss. This time Wolves will be without their talisman Jimenez. Wing backs Jonny Otto and Marcal will also be unavailable and forward Pedro Neto will also be a doubt having been substituted after an injury during the Fulham game. Key defender Willy Boly should be available after missing the previous 2 games due to contracting the Covid-19 virus when on international duty.

The game will be shown live on Sky Sports

I'm not sure why none of those players play in any u23s games either. We seem to bring them into the first team squad and then just stick them on the bench, so the barely play at all.

Sporting Lisbon won away on Friday night to go 8 points clear of Porto and Benfica and they have yet to lose a game this season. Former Wolves midfielder Pedro Goncalves got the only goal of the game and he is the top scorer in the Portuguese league

The lesser spotted Marcal was back in training today at Compton

Must be rare for a midfielder to be top scorer in any league

If Newcastle avoid defeat at lunchtime then Sheff Utd will be relegated if they lose at Molineux tonight

Anyone expecting Wolves to win easily this evening will likely be disappointed. 9 of Sheffield Utd’s defeats this season have been through a score line of 1-0

Well that accounts for 9 of the 55 goals that they've conceded so of the other 22 games they've played they have conceded 46 which averages more than 2 per game.

Had a feeling it would be 1-0
