I have no issues with the academy but Steve Hitchen is the reason we have such deadwood and lack of global negotiating ability both for sales and purchase. We waste soo much time with inneficient trading of players.
Here is Steve's wiki
Steven James Hitchen is an English retired professional footballer who played as a defender for Blackburn Rovers and Macclesfield Town in the Football League. He works as the chief scout for Tottenham Hotspur.
Can anyone tell me why he deserves to be Chief Scout of a billion dollar company?

Am not a scout but I can assure you I wont have bought the likes of Sissoko,Doherty, Dier, Sanchez etc Their poor technical ability sticks out a country mile..
The bare minimum when you bring a player to a side aspiring for top 4 is to have decent footballing technique especially in the modern game where Its high octane and the press is prevalent. Our club for many years have been littered with such "ok" players. hence our struggles.

Not just that but you hope the homework has been done on getting the players in that can fit into your system. Doherty is just atrocious in a back 4, that's why Wolves wanted rid so they could move away from the more restrictive back 5. He's a moderately okay wing back but to sign a player untested in a different position is nothing short of moronic. That for me is the most alarming thing. It either means Jose hasn't got an effing clue or there's a disconnect between the recruitment policy and what's actually need to fit into our team.

Agree, sometimes the recruitment can appears slapdash. I look at City and they very rarely get things wrong. Guardiola wont just bring anyone in for the sake of it. Has to fit their playing style.

I’m sorry, but that’s complete nonsense. Levy isn’t your normal chairman either, he does actually know a lot about football, Spurs wouldn’t have been in the position they have been if Levy didn’t have the faintest clue.
He’s so heavily involved in the football side of things, and makes the key decisions on transfers. He’s the one dictating the transfer policy, the scouts recommendations only have so much value, and how they are managed once they arrive at the club is another area where they aren’t really culpable.
Liverpool didn’t change all their scouts, as far as I’m aware, when Klopp came in. The success of their transfer strategy has been due to a restructuring in senior management just before and Klopp replacing Rodgers.
Contrary to popular belief, Manchester United have one of the best scouting networks in world football. But people don’t seem to believe that because of the poor decision making at the top.

Who are you addressing? You point seems all over the place. So you agree that Liverpool senior management restructuring has been key to their success and Steve Hitchen is classed as Senior management. He is the chief scout.

The man saying the sword falls on the scouts. Liverpool’s structure isn’t the same. Their chairman doesn’t involve himself in the football as heavily as Levy does. Levy’s defacto director of football. As long as he’s shaping transfer policy, it’s hard to blame the scouts too much for failed transfers.

If Levy is really that clued up then we shouldn’t be ending up with so many duds. Maybe he should stay away

I could go deeper into his ineptitude but kept it simple for access. You'll find his CV as a chief scout is very weak.

I dont think you'll be able to find be a less travelled or weaker CV of a chief scout or DoF of a billion dollar club. I like to match staff with ambition and turnover. Our backroom needs a overhaul.
