Why not mention his part in bringing Modric to Spurs and Suarez to Liverpool?
Did it not fit your agenda?
Transfer are hit and miss.
You can find a very expensive player in ever club that's has failed delivered given the amount of money spent.
Part of Spurs problem is the budget.
We have been at the top end of the league so need top end players to fill and improve the team with. If we are not allowed to spend £50m on a full back as City Utd and Chelsea all did then we will get your Auriers and Dohertys. That is what you get for £15m to £25m
If we choose youthful promise of Rodon over experienced proven quality at CB then we save £30-40m but do not have the quality on the pitch and no certainty that player will fulfil the promise.
IMO, we have gained value for money spent on most of our signings with Sanchez being the only one to truly fall short of his value. Lo Celso also yet to fully deliver but has been messed up with injuries, and Jose not really letting Bergwijn show his qualities, but again, another youthful £25m signing with potential.
Until we target key areas of the team with top quality players we will not improve. I have said it many times before, we have too many squad quality players while having too few top quality first XI players, particularly in defensive positions.

That's why Pochettino is quite rightly held in such high regard by the majority of fans. Not a flash in a pan like Moyes and West Ham this season but consistently challenging with limited funds. It's a shame we didn't get to see him utilise a proper budget.

Neither of those were acquiring hidden gems like Leicester signing Mahrez or Kante. They were both considered to be bright young stars in the making. A true test of scouting staff I think is seeing superstars before they become them. Bale, Alli etc. I don’t think we’ve bought smart for quite some time.
If Levy is so involved in the process, and ultimately the key decision maker, it’s difficult to really blame Hitchens and your scouts too much for your transfer policy isn’t it?

You have no idea where we would have ended with Poch in that season. Over the end of the previous and 12 games into the new season we had played 24 league games and won just 7. It was very difficult to see how things would turn around because a summer break and new signings did nothing for our form.
I think it may have been too late by then to turn it around.
What would have helped would have been investing in the squad the summer before, so that the squad could be fresher with competition for places. When we hit that bad form we had few quality options and the following season the options we had were new players who (as time has shown) took the best part of a season to settle in.
Poor squad management and transfer decision making, for which Poch is also culpable, all lead to the crisis which saw players and the management lose faith.
We absolutely need to improve our scouting, I look at some of the bargains other clubs unearth and wonder why Spurs rarely do the same.

No worse off than under Jose is my best guess but with less negative football. We actually experienced slightly worse form under Jose this season than Poch had last season, during the end of the last year and start of this one.
I think given time with the new players we could have found some sort of rhythm with Poch. GLC who was hit by injury problems, was starting to feature more, and as we've seen with Ndombele, he's become much better after settling in.
It's possible he could have turned things around. Look how Ole has coped since Poch was sacked. They were below us at the time.
We were never getting relegated that's for sure, so Poch should have been given the rest of the season to see how he did. He was owed that much.

I don’t think we move players on quickly enough. Not enough turnover of deadwood
----------------------------------------------------------------------
In the modern game it's easier said than done with players happy to take their pay and not play, rather than take a pay cut (Rose). Deadwood by definition are only going to go down the football ladder so it usually ends up with well paid under performing players going out on loan but still taking home their wages.
Who is going to take a £25m punt on Sanchez, and even that would be a £15m to £20m loss for us?
and in these covid times getting money for these players will be even tougher.
We cannot just give them away as it will just perpetuate this position we have been in where we replace unwanted dross with slightly better dross.
Liverpool made their key big signings off the back of Coutinho and before that Torres. They didnt go for 7 players with potential they went for 2 very expensive proven quality players
