What next for our club

So, after yesterday's game, we had the following confirmed to us, if we didn't already know.

1. In terms of this season's lows.
> Arsenal will, somehow, manage to finish above us. Whilst I don't think
this local "St whatever day" is remotely important, unless it relates to
finishing 1st or 2nd in the league, for me it chrysalises where Spurs
are at this time.
> A record amount of points dropped from winning positions. I don't
know exactly, but it has got to have exceeded 20 points after last
night. That is shocking, but tells you everything you need to know
about the mentality of the current squad of players. The bigger
question is, come next season, do we have any players who can
change their mentality around ? for me, no.
> Kane and the media. For me, I have no real problem with Kane
leaving. A fantastic player, but the reality is he does not perform in big
games, and we have won nothing with him as our main man. For me,
get the maximum you can for him and buy wisely with the money.
But, the media have more than contributed to this miserable season.
They have constantly gone after Spurs at every turn, included a
concerted effort to disrupt the club with the Kane story, before the
season has finished Yeah you can ignore it, but if you follow football,
you cannot get away from pundits and the press. These people
dominate every aspect of your viewing. Even this morning, Shearer
has an article out on Kane. Every pundit has had their little say on the
matter, knowing full well what disruption this will cause to Kane and
the other players. Just disgusting behavior.
> Learning from mistakes. Spurs just refuse to do this. From Levy down
to the players. We all watch games, none of us are football "qualified"
but can all see the mistakes made. So why don't they see it and just
keep repeating them game after game ?

Going forward, it feels like we will need to get used to a period of serious rebuilding. This will look very much like it did in the early 2000's. Then we played some attractive football, but didn't have the players to get past a certain level. Always finishing behind the established clubs, Arsenal in particular, and falling short. Our expectations were no more that a Europa place. That, at that time was considered a good season. None of us even thought about CL football, and just saw that as something other teams get.

We were a selling club, and always progressed so far then sold our best players, usually to Utd. Berbertove, Keane, then Modric and Bale spring to mind.

My point guys, is that is where the club is now. Kane will go, possibly Son too, and we will slip back to the 6th/7th/8th area of the table. Hopefully, like I and others did in the early 2000's, without the expectation, we can actually start enjoying our football again.

The rebuild will inevitably take a few years, and that is if Levy appoints the right manager, and keeps him during that period.

Get used to it, because the only way you will see Spurs back in the CL places is if Levy, firstly spends big, really big, and more importantly hands the "football" decisions over to someone who actually knows about football and the right players to buy ( and get ride of )

We all know, regrettably, neither will happen.

It's not rocket science and we've all seen this before (I mean, it was in the Amazon doc for starters). Levy isn't going to get pushed around by Kane, he's going to set the price and the criteria for the bid i.e. outside of London, the league, whatever and he's not going to budge until those are met.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Do we really want an unhappy Kane next season? This is a question Levy needs to ask himself. Our club is already toxic enough..
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No definitely not. I personally think Harry has earned himself the right to leave if that's what he wants but I'm just not sure what Levy will do tbh. I think if he can get £100m from someone like City then he's gone.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No way. Bear in mind that his stock has never been higher. He's top goalscorer AND top assist maker. That's higher than De Bruyne and Fernandes playing in a completely different position.

There's not a chance in hell Levy will sanction a sale of a measly £100m. I'm not even sure if he'll sanction £150m if it means selling to another Prem team. We got a world record fee for Bale and I wouldn't mind betting that his asking price for Kane will be similarly close to Neymar / Mbappe levels. Crazy for a 28 year old but you know our Daniel.

Among Levy's awards are CEO of the year (2017) , besides he has been at the helm of Tottenham for 15 years.
Any decisions he made like proving a spanking new stadium were done with the aid of Savvy professional consultants.
Blaming him solely or accusing him of lack of experience and football knowledge is somewhat naive imo.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So is the signing of Bale, when the manager clearly didn't want him, the Doherty signing, spending £40m on Sanchez and so many more, even Regullion clearly not wanted at Madrid

I think the most we'll be offered for Kane will be between £100-110m this summer. Levy won't sell for that. It might be possible that we get a player exchange thing going on as assets are there but the money just isn't. If we got offered say Ferran Torres and Bernardo Silva and £60m then I think we've got a deal. Knowing Levy if any player swap is mooted he'll ask for Foden and De Bruyne as a way of saying "feck off".

I'm with you, it feels low and I doubt Levy would want to sell for that little BUT Bale was sold for at his peak (same level as Harry I'd say) for £85m and when you factor in covid I'm not sure if £150m is out there right now.

When Bale was sold for £85m that was at the time a world record fee. With the sales of Neymar, Mbappe, Coutinho, Dembele at Barca, Felix and Griezmann going way over the £100m mark, they've wildly inflated the market. A lot has changed in the last 10 years.

All those world record fees were pre-COVID. It goes both ways - if Spurs got £100m for Kane, that would go further when buying than it did 2 years ago too

Levy will rightly not sell Kane for less than £150 million, and why should he. He holds all the cards. The buying clubs hold none. If they don`t want to pay that much, then nobody is forcing them to. Absolutely there choice.

Ask yourself if you put your house on the market for say £300,000, and you were in no rush to sell, but somebody came in with an offer of say £250,000, you would simply tell them where to stick it.
