In the early 2000s it felt like finishing in 8th place was like winning the league. For about a 10 year period up to around 2004, our normal level was around 11th. That's where ENIC need some credit. Since they've come in, whilst they haven't irresponsibly been spending like Chelsea and City, they have turned us into a top four / six side, sometimes higher since they came in. The club they took over and the one we have now is like night and day.
We should remember that. I think Sandy mentioned it in another thread. Be careful what you wish for. I think we're all sick of Levy not spending (by all accounts this is the fault of Lewis more than Levy apparently) but we could be out of the frying pan and into the fire. Imagine if a Venky style ownership came in or a Gillet / Hicks fiasco. Only 3 clubs in world football have been taken over by super, super rich owners that can throw away billions on a toy and that's Chelsea, City and PSG. Everyone else, including United, Madrid, Barca etc, have to live within their means. Three clubs worldwide in the entire history of the sport. What are the chances of us being the fourth to get lucky?! It's far more likely that they'd sell and we'd get someone in equally as thrifty but with less financial ruthlessness than Levy. One thing we do have with him is shrewd business sense.

Kane and his team are the ones that put the story out. You can hardly blame the media for reporting it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think Kane and his team deserve being hauled through the coals for not waiting until the season was over before announcing. I've no doubt that the news affected the players as a collective last night and individually none more so than Kane himself. That was a crucial game for the club and we blew it. Couldn't they wait seven days for christ's sake?
I think Levy will ultimately turn us into the long mooted London NFL franchise..... Stadium is done, no relegation, massive revenue. & a salary cap.... its his perfect sport/ business model. He’s already shown he’s happy to walk away from the traditional football pyramid. Sell Kane and pay off a chunk of the stadium, tell the rest of them to fack off (not worth anything anyway), take down the cockerel and call us the North London Lions.... U saw it here first

This Summer there are 2 big things for me that will show what direction Levy is pushing the club:
1. New manager hire. Will Levy hire a big brand manager who can work with this squad with small changes or will he hire an up and comer who can work with younger players and build us up from scratch.
2. Player recruitment. Will Levy be willing to accept sensible bids for players we don't want or will he drag his heels. Will we see an influx of young players into the first team or will he use funds to try and bring in top players.
The club have remained tight lipped, they have not denied that Kane wants to leave, which is very telling.
I suspect that Levy gave Kane his word last summer that he could leave if Spurs did not progress and an acceptable offer came in, hence their silence on the matter.
The media are just full of agenda driven mugs, so nothing they spout is a surprise.
The question is though, will a club make a bid that is considered acceptable to Levy, Kane is one of the best centre forwards in the world and priceless to Spurs, he also has at least 5 years at the top and potentially more than that, he could easily play on until he is 35+. So how much is that worth to Spurs, the answer is a lot, unless of course Levy has promised him he can leave if a club bids a certain amount.
Beating Leicester is doable. Southampton may well do you a favour and you are back in the mix.
We Blues are with you on this one !
Chins up..at least for Kane's swan song, He will want to depart on a high for sure!
Harry Kane: "For me I don't want to come to the end of my career and have any regrets. I want to be be the best I can be." "I never will say i'll stay at Spurs for the rest of my career, and i'd never say that i'll leave Spurs. Im not rushing anything, im not desperate."
"Im at the moment of my career where I have to reflect and see where im at, and have an honest conversation with the chairman." "Im sure he'll want to set out the plan, but ultimately it will be down to me and what's best for me at this moment in time."
Back to mid table obscurity me thinks
Levy needs to hand over the reigns to someone that has greater knowledge of football than he does, not sure he can or will but he needs to take a step back and leave the appointment of manager and players to a dedicated team of football people now, Levy has made too many atrocious hiring, fireing and transfers in the last few years that it must end now from this Summer appoint someone with decent football knowledge to run the show
Just seen these quotes pop-up myself. Not sure when Neville interviewed him though.
The line "but ultimately it will be down to me and what's best for me at this moment in time" is laughable.
What was best for you was to maybe not say that with 3 years left on your contract Harry. You have no power here. If the money isn't there, you're going nowhere sunshine.
On Levy, Kane added: "He’s been great with me if I’m totally honest .I mean, he’s always rewarded me with contracts. Like obviously I signed maybe a 4 or 5-year deal when I was 21 but I’ve done well so he’s added to that. He’s been great with me.
"He’s been fair with me. He’s never kind of just held me on to a contract and said 'No, I’ve paid you that. You’re going to stay on that'.
"So, we’ve always had a good relationship, but yeah, I’m not sure how that conversation will go if I’m honest, but you know what it’s like as players you don’t know what the chairman is thinking.

Being this Leicester team with our bluffers is a massive task.
It's not rocket science and we've all seen this before (I mean, it was in the Amazon doc for starters). Levy isn't going to get pushed around by Kane, he's going to set the price and the criteria for the bid i.e. outside of London, the league, whatever and he's not going to budge until those are met.
That interview was done a while ago, I suspect since then he has had his interview with Levy, not been impressed with Levy`s plan, and told him there and then he wants to leave.
This is not good news for Spurs fans, it indicates a continued lack of ambition from Levy and Lewis any time soon.
Dark times ahead imo, that is my take on it.

Do we really want an unhappy Kane next season? This is a question Levy needs to ask himself. Our club is already toxic enough..
Among Levy's awards are CEO of the year (2017) , besides he has been at the helm of Tottenham for 15 years.
Any decisions he made like proving a spanking new stadium were done with the aid of Savvy professional consultants.
Blaming him solely or accusing him of lack of experience and football knowledge is somewhat naive imo.

It's gone. We got dominated by a Villa team that have nothing to play for. Imagine playing a Leicester team that need the win to have a chance of CL football, playing in front of their own fans for the first time in ages and the fact that they are a much, much more cohesive unit than us. We'll be lucky to keep the score down.
This is a fight for the Europa Conference League, not the Europa League. The fight is between us and Arsenal, not us and West Ham. To tell the truth, is it even worth being in? I was listening to an Alan Davies podcast the other day and him and his fellow Arsenal mates are desperate not to be in it as it's probably more embarrassing than being out of Europe. All of those ingredients point to us being in it, sadly.

No definitely not. I personally think Harry has earned himself the right to leave if that's what he wants but I'm just not sure what Levy will do tbh. I think if he can get £100m from someone like City then he's gone.
