I read rumours about being in for the young Juve winger from Eastern Europe.
Apparently looked really good at Parma before his love to juve and put up some good stats.

The “we will score more than you” mentality rarely wins titles.
Would be exciting though.

People would be up in arms after United lost their first three league games.
If the plan was also to “get rid of playing out from the back”, we’d also enjoy watching Cavani and Kane fail as target men, a ridiculously low possession rate, SMS dragged around all over the place as the opposition eights/forwards wandered freely into the half spaces, and combination play/overloading getting the opposition in behind time after time.
There aren’t any teams around which play with one CM and four out-and-out forwards. None. Because they’d get rinsed by even average sides.

Plus, the "we will concede one less than" you strategy hasn't exactly been garnering points galore in the bigger games this season.
On the signings side of things, I hate to be negative, but I'm expecting something similar to last and previous summers. Sign the odd youngster with potential, chase a big name, fail to sign the big name, have a deadline day scramble which may or may not strengthen the team

It’d be exceptionally easy to play against.

If SMS was Roy Keane and Bruno took Scholes place, II don't see why it would be very easy to play against Rosso. Of course we don't have Roy so it could be Fred!

Beckham and Giggs did a lot more defending than and had starting positions very different to those of Sancho at Dortmund and Rashford in this United side.
When Scholes was playing in a midfield two under SAF, he also had a role closer to McTominay’s most weeks than to Bruno’s.
There isn’t a DM anywhere in world football who could do the job that the OP would be asking SMS (who isn’t a specialist DM having spent his career playing B2B and at eight) to do, because it’s a job for at least two players.

Keane never had to play in midfield on his own.
Partly because SAF never played with one player in midfield.
Partly because no successful manager plays with one player in midfield.

Do ANY managers play with 1 midfielder?

I seem to remember Ossie Ardiles playing Giga Popescu in midfield for Spurs, with Anderton, Barmby, Sheringham, Klinsmann and Dumitrescu ahead of him. Well, it was good to watch...

I disagree, there is one player who could probably just about do it. He plays for us and he's called McFred.
