Before the new season begins instead of mid-season. Here is what I see happening.
We persist with Ole, we start the season horribly and by Ole gets sacked by November/ December. The new manager who comes in will already be inheriting a squad which he is not happy with and in a battle for top 4 and the season will be gone in waste instead of us progressing. The next 2 years will be gone in clearing out Ole's deadwood and we will be back to square one. Just like we still haven't cleared LVG and Jose's deadwood.
By sacking Ole now we will be able to give the new manager an entire pre-season to build the squad and impose his tactics on the team and we will be able to somewhat challenge/win for trophies which Ole has proved incompetent.
There has never been a summer where so many top level managers are available. Zidane, Conte and probably Hans Deiter Flick if he doesn't take up the German national team job. All of them proven winners and regardless of their brand of football you can probably guarantee that we will challenge for trophies.
My top preference would obviously be Zidane. A proven winner, great tactician and commands respect. With the PL having Pep, Klopp, Tuchel as world class managers its' almost impossible to see Ole challenging them unless something catastrophic happens. Zidane as a manager would be going toe to toe with them.
https://backpagefootball.com/its-time-to-appreciate-zidane-the-manager-as-highly-as-the-player/127878/
So I think the right time to get a new manager is right now. Let him make the changes needed, get his own players and will have a full pre-season. Persisting with Ole would be suiicide as he'll probably get sacked before 2022 and we'll end up playing catch to our rivals.
Its better to sack him now

I like OGS.
Far happier having him in charge than the alternatives mentioned on here.

You can't really compare it

No one is. But you can not dismiss it either, which a lot of stupid people do.

Our idiot-in-chief has never won anything. On the contrary, he got relegated.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If you're counting his relegation with Cardiff, maybe you should credit Ole with the titles he won at Molde?
As for "idiot-in-chief", you know what they say about those in glass houses ...
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Titles with Molde? You make me laugh
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Never quite sure why this does. Of course Molde is in a small league, but I would say the principals of management are the same. Company to company, team to team.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yep. Leading them to their first title in their 100 year history shouldn't be disregarded. Granted, it isn't the same as winning the PL, Serie A, La Liga etc. But ot does hold some value.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nobody is holding his Cardiff relagation against him nor his titles with Molde mean anything to his Utd career.
Ole needs to be held responsible for getting us knocked out of the CL group stages, losing to Villareal in the final and being trophy less in 2.5 years. Any top club that's a sackable performance. Only champions of mediocrity think othrwise.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
this
and as fan of ole I don't even want him to get sacked. I just cannot stand the apologists who act like others are insane for demanding more.
what I see is an acceptance mentality. Yes nothing anyone says on an online forum will change utd but seeing my fellow fans standards so low is quite disturbing
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The standards or the lack of are astounding really

What are you talking about? His Cardiff relegation constantly gets brought up. It was a bad move on his part. He wasn't likely to be a success under that particular owner. Either way, a relegation doesn't determine a manager's future. Just ask Klopp.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I have never brought up his Cardiff relegation nor his Molde titles. All I give a fack is his Utd performances which have been unsatisfactory. I was even willing to give him next season had we won Europa but the Villareal game was the last straw. There is no coming back .
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You literally just brought up his Cardiff relegation.

Who are these so called apologists? It is like these so called people who you say are morally superior to Real and Chelsea fans.
They don't exist on here to any degree of concern.
I have seen two people who are out and out Ole fans. One is a sock account designed to take the pee called Culer and the other one (Cleverson) does it purely to wind up people like the OP.

Nope, they don't exist. Even those who don't want Ole sacked accept that he has made mistakes.
We just had a few weird posters that make these narratives up and then bombard the forum with constant articles about something that only exists in their minds. No matter how many times you try to explain it to them they cannot grasp what you are saying. And now they are upset that they are being widely ridiculed to repeating the same stuff over and over.

Indeed Elvis.
I have actually seen five United posters today say they are pretty much OK with Ole being sacked and equally ok with him being given the new season.
You don't have to be one or the other.
It reminds me of the political divide in both UK and US politics, that is manufactured by the media. The vast majority of people are not far left or far right or even left leaning or right leaning, they are somewhere in the middle. Tony Blair for all his faults understood this.

All have failed to move the narrative.

Anyone seen the UTD way documentary.... maybe just maybe, Ole is doing it the Sir Matt and SAF way...
maybe we among the modern day haters that didn’t believe in giving time then, only to fall on the wrong side of history, that includes the media/pundits.
Sure there’s arguments to be had about, who had a worse team, who spent what.
But maybe, just maybe, History is once again repeating itself. Our History, Utds History.... maybe.
