BBC Discrimination

Came across this job advertisement for a Trainee Researcher for the Natural History Unit, which is responsible for the likes of Springwatch etc

https://www.freelancevideocollective.com/job/trainee-researcher/

What stood was this sentence, describing who could apply:-

This opportunity is only open to Black, Asian and ethnically diverse candidates.

Surely it isn’t right to be practising such open ‘positive’ discrimination?

Not sure farming has any relevance to an interest in nature and natural history.

I wouldn’t like to guess the reasons why the bbc wanted to make this specific role for bame applicants only, as I don’t know if it is due to the role specifically or other reasons.

OP referred to Natural science programming, including Springwatch and I imagine, Countryfile.

I watch both and they have spoken of lack of black people going to the countryside, and have recruited people of colour.

Black and Asian people being in towns and cities and not feeling as comfortable out in the sticks, was also mentioned by black and Asian BBC staff.

And as stated, few if any black or asian farmers.

It’s with the natural history unit, so it won’t be countryfile.

Farming, I agree. Different reasons for that though and I don’t see that changing any time soon.

I think it’s just the seasonal stuff. Spring, autumn watch etc

So, it is ok if certain sectors are mainly black in a mainly white nation?

Can't argue with facts.

Looks like TBAB is talking out his rear as usual.

Its sad but true though. Watch 13th on Netflix.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
13th was hocking, even for a "woke" guy like me.

Having witnessed these facts you wonder what kind of cretin would oppose taking the knee. What harm does kneeling do in comparison to racism? Its like leaving a lion alone so you can complain about a hamster. Taking a knee should pale in comparison.
