Looks like it’s finally happening as per @FabrizioRomano tweets in last hour:
Tammy Abraham will fly to Rome on Sunday to undergo medical tests, sign the contract and complete his move to AS Roma. Deal to be announced in the next few days. 🔴 #ASRoma #CFC
Personal terms agreed. €40m to Chelsea and NO Arsenal for Tammy. Here-we-go. ✈️
Chelsea will include a buy-back clause in the agreement with AS Roma for Tammy Abraham, confirmed by @DiMarzio. 🔵 #CFC #ASRoma
Details: Chelsea will have a buy-back clause for €80m, valid since June 2023 and NOT from next summer. #Abraham
Tammy to Roma is just a good deal for all involved. Looking forward to see how he does being main man, replacing Dzeko. I hope he does well enough to activate the buy back clause!! Even then, €40m is a good fee. My only worry is Joseball may stifle him. Thoughts?

Average or ageing players I should add

This could just be Jose trolling us again like he did with Xhaka, could cause us to overpay for a player that may not even be good enough to improve us currently and there are no guarantees on his future although he does have decent potential to improve a bit more.
Wouldn't surprise me if it broke down again or we bid higher and end up with Tammy...
If he does go to Roma are we dodging a bullet or would he become the one genuinely good buy we've made from Chelsea in recent years because none of the others have been close to perfect and one or two have been pretty horrific.

Good to see youngish English players heading abroad for a different challenge. That said when you're other option is us under Arteta you'd be stupid not to

Do you think he’ll last until Christmas? Is there a fans mutual ‘want’ as the new manager?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think he'll get at least until Christmas, unless we're actually bottom of the table in say November. The club seem to have some very deluded belief in him even now

Great to see more and more English lads taking the step to move abroad and get regular football. Mourinho and Rome could be a fantastic couple of years for him and I think the buy back clause is a shrewd inclusion.
I like Abraham a lot but do understand why Chelsea want a more established forward for this season. Could see him smash up Italy for a couple of years and slot back in at Chelsea just as Lukaku enters his 30s. Will certainly watch Roma this year to see how it all unfolds.
On his choice of club, I absolutely think Roma is more appealing, particularly with Mourinho there. He doesn't seem like a soft lad and with the right mentality, I stilll think Jose can be a superb mentor.

Why would anyone willingly go to Mourinho lmao.

The alternative was Arteta.

Great move for Tammy.

The Italians are the masters at this. Players can be paid more by English clubs, many prefer the premier league, but they send presidents, managers, delegates etc to the players and tell them how much they want them and how they can make them better players. Once convinced, they sign players at bargain prices. Great business.

To avoid having to come to Arteta obviously.
