Cavani

I feel he is taking the p i s s a little bit in all honesty.

The club stupidly gave him an extended break going into the new season. Now he is only fit enough to most likely get on the bench going into our 3rd game. Bare in mind we are on an International break after these set of fixtures.

Now it appears he is unhappy with the Premier league and the Urugyuan FA are pushing him to play the Sept and Oct fixtures where he would miss 8 games for us due to covid isolation rules. They would include West Ham and Leicester away and Liverpool at home and two CL games. He is our main striker and will be needed for these games. Losing him would put a huge dent into our season which may not be recoverable come the end of the season.

Not too mention if covid rules stay the same there are international fixtures in Jan, Feb and March. Appreciate you want to play and show loyalty to your country due to the current situation and the fact he is gone after this season he could at least show some commitment to us and the fans and come out and show his dedication for the upcoming season before he leaves.

Look I understand what you’re saying, he clearly cares far more for Uruguay than United and rightly so but he signed a contract to represent United and therefor should prioritise them over playing for his country. Covid has complicated things and I hope players, clubs and countries can come to some sort of middle ground but potentially missing weeks of football to represent you country for a handful of games just doesn’t seem right.

Yea the government rejected FIFAs proposal and backed the PL and now I’m pretty sure other major leagues are doing the same.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

But that isn't the government saying he can't travel. They can't stop him from travelling. And I am not sure that they have backed the PL at all.

The PL and FA have spoken with the government and it appears that they, like FIFA, asked for the players to be exempt from having to quarantine. But the government hasn't granted it.

You think he should prioritise club over country. I get that. But that doesn't make it HIS priority. He makes his own mind up. He clearly loves his country and representing it. We knew that when we signed him.

It’s not about whether he should or not, that’s just what he has to do and would have agreed to that when he signed the contract. If he didn’t then he should have done what Messi specifically asked for in his.

Clubs are not allowed to stop a player from going to represent their country unless it is outside the specified windows for games. And the club and player cannot make an agreement to say otherwise.

Whether the PL can legally stop Cavani from travelling/playing I am not sure. Not by my understanding, but I could be wrong.

I meant to add that Cavani doesn't need to have anything written into his contract to say that he can be released for international games, as that is just a standard.

😂😂

You got a laugh at the hypocrisy of some folk.

Rashford plays for England and misses the start due to surgery, surgery he could have had early and turned out for the club who pay his wages. Yet we get a huge defence of honour of playing for country etc etc. A player who is young enough to partake in future tournaments

Now we have a foreign bloke wishing to have the honour of representing his country at the latter stages of his career and folk are all about who pays his wages.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
I have criticised Rashford for not having his surgery earlier. I think the club are massively inept when it comes to managing many players

I am personally happy that the delay means he will have a longer rest. The lad's body was fecked. He's not been right since he hurt his back.
