Now the window is nearly shut we can see the squads trusted to go for the title etc. It does look like we have 4 teams who are arguably closer than they have been for a long long time.
Chelsea for me look the team to beat. Lukaku was the missing piece for them and Saul Niguez is a great piece of business on loan too. Their midfield options now of Kante, Jorginho, Kovacic and Saul are truly sublime.
Prediction: Champions
United have had a truly incredible window. Sancho Varane and Ronaldo is truly dream stuff it can't be denied. Yes we still do lack of top DM but we have so many good players now that teams aren't going to know who to double mark and who to leave free against us.
Prediction: Runners up
City have surprised me this window. Grealish is quality but it's not an area where City needed any strengthening at all really. Left back and ST are still weak spots for them. Think they will have to go again in January market if they want to retain the title.
Prediction: 3rd (Could change in January market)
Liverpool really haven't been active at all. Signed a decent CB who doesn't even look like is going to be first choice. Very bizarre. Their squad depth is going to be tested to its limits again. Don't think Klopp will be pleased at all behind closed doors. Trouble will be brewing.
Prediction: 4th
Top 4 looking closer than ever....

I have my doubts as to how good Salah actually is - I know it sounds stupid - but he's just fast and scores lots of penalties.
__________________________
Yeah that does sound pretty stupid
We'll be up there again this season I expect. Injuries facked us over big time last season, we won't (or shouldn't) lose our entire central defence again.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I know I know - biut I am being honest. I look at him and I just don't see it.
But I admit it's probably just me!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Thats the feeling I got watching Liverpool on Saturday. So much of their game is based on energy, be it feeding from the crowd or when the front 3 lead the press. 38 games is too many games to play at 100 miles an hour. You need to be able to win games in 3rd gear on some days and Liverpool found a way to do it when they signed van Dijk and Allisson. Defence is key to do this and this is where Chelseas defence impresses me particularly Rudiger and Azpi.
I don’t agree with you about Salah. He has serious end product and him and Jota are the key source of goals for now whilst Mane and Firminho find their form.
With Mane. I think its confidence. He used to be unplayable when running at speed with the ball at defenders with the likes of Salah and Firminho benefiting from that. Now he doesn’t make those runs or he runs down the wrong channels. If they can get him firing then they are as good if not better than City as long as they defend well.
Frminho is finished for me. Klopp is hoping against hope but the team has even left him behind. Not starting Jota on Saturday was a weird call as was playing that Elliot kid.
Saw a comment somewhere say united has more world class players than Liverpool. Of all teams I think Liverpool still has the most world class talent in van Dijk, Becker, Salah and Trent. The issue has always been the drop of from these players when compared to teams like City, Utd, Chelsea.
If they start well they will be my favourites.

I find rival fans opinions on how Liverpool play hilarious.
This idea that Liverpool are a high octane energetic side who go all guns blazing throughout every game is ridiculous. In actual fact, the system changes throughout the season depending on opposition and even changes in the game. If we're a couple of goals up for example, out goes the pressing and high line. If we're chasing a game, or trying to break through a bus, then there is more patience with the passing. It's only really the first ten minutes of games, or certain types of games where Liverpool play anything like what some appear to think they play like.
Also this idea of having issues because of not strengthening. Firstly our issues last year were unprecedented. We lost every centre back, played two midfielders at the back and lost them, recalled a loanee who was on loan in the German second division and played a youngster who had been nowhere near the first team. We therefore signed another centre back, to ensure that won't happen again.
In midfield we have seven midfielders for three spots. The first choice you'd expect to be Fabinho, Henderson and Thiago. Again no problems there. Backups in Keita, Jones, Milner and Elliott, if need be. Should be no problems there either. Up front we have the four main forwards for three sports, Mane, Salah, Firmino and Jota. Perhaps another brought in would have been great but certainly not much to worry about, unless lightning struck twice and all forwards were out at once.
The one position where if you only lost one player where we would lose a lot is a right back, however you'd expect the team to cope with the loss of one position.
Several world class players in the first team and decent backup. I think we'll win it, although that will depend also on City.

Good luck. We finished 3rd last season with unprecedented injuries in the one position, causing disruption throughout the team. I doubt that will happen again.

Liverpool
City
Chelsea
United
Leicester
Everton

I just don't think you have got as strong a squad as Chelsea, City or United.
Our second 11 is something like this: Henderson; Dalot, Lindelof, Bailly, Telles; Fred, Van de Beek, Lingard; Greenwood, Cavani, Martial.
I just don't think you've got that quality in depth. A few injuries and you could struggle again.

United? Really? Wow. First of all you have a weaker keeper, a weaker defence, a weaker midfield and a weaker attack. Thats the part the makes the most difference, the first eleven. You've a better back up keeper, which won't make much of a defence. Liverpool better back up centre backs. Full backs much of a muchness, Liverpool better backup midfielders and you've better backup attackers. United squad is quite a bit behind Liverpool's, although catching up.
