What Is Class?

It has often been said Neil Lennon lacks class. Personally I have no real feelings either way about the guy, I dont actively dislike him but cant say iv ever really admired him or respected him the way I did O'Neill for example who I always thought was great to listen to. Thats said I felt sorry for Lennon last year like any normal human with what he went through.

However a few things struck me this afternoon. No interview again after the match with Sky. Cant remember the last time he done one after a game when his team got beat. Always immediately available when they win, but not after a defeat. Indeed after one old firm match last season he was so keen to face the cameras he was in the gantry with the pundits taking the plaudits for a win. In another old firm game victory he waited about to shake the hands of every Rangers player, revelling in a fair play spirit. Havent seen this in any old firm defeat or indeed any defeat.
We were also told he "always" goes to the away fans and runs on the pitch after an away game, applauding them and in return milking the applause back. He didnt today. Or at Ibrox. Or again at any match iv seen Celtic lose away from home. Straight down the tunnel. No hanging around on the pitch cupping his ears enjoying "a bit of banter" with the home fans.

For me our game lacks characters, so if Lennon wants to be one great fair play to him. Have banter with fans. Milk the applause. Lap up the media attention. But dont just do it when you win, have a bit of respect for football supporters who want to hear your opinion win lose or draw and conduct yourself with a bit more dignity and class, dont have it resting on what the result was.

sorry - I really dont want to get into all this history nonsense. However my point is if Celtic fans believe there is a sectarian element to this, who can blame them?

Tommy Burns.

Long time ago after the 5-1 game at Ibrox.

Tommy Burns did a full and frank interview with Scotsport. I think he was team captain that day.

Did Tommy hate to lose, hell yes.

Did he earn/show respect, hell yes.

Is Neil Lennon in the same category - not for me he's not.

Seven

If I never see, hear a soldier, a song about a soldier, a song about volunteers, a flag of another country in a football stadium it will still be too soon for me....

Stuff them all....

agree 100%

I think you will find that those who feel the same way at both our clubs are in a significant majority and it is a few dafties who rub everyone else up the wrong way.

To be honest I think Lennon has been carrying himself a lot better this season.
He hasn't been churning out the usual excuses, or conspiracy theories to the same extent and he has held his hands up when the team haven't delivered in the few interviews I've seen him in the past couple of months...
I'm never really going to be a fan, but as a person he isn't as bas as he's often made out to be...
