First of all, I am neither an Everton of Liverpool fan but, like many football fans, I have a great respect for both teams and their fans, but I feel badly for the many loyal Everton fans for the embarrassing display that their team put on a couple of days ago against their traditional neighbours.
The Everton team looked totally unprepared for this game. Unless their players were in rebellion against management, then the fault primarily lies with Benitez. Surely this experienced manager met with his team before the game and warned them to make sure that they did not concede an early goal? Yet they almost gave up a goal after two minutes! Their defernding, ball-control, passing and overall game-energy was disgraceful. Thus, they played "catch-up" all game.
Time for Everton FC owners to get their brooms out and make some fundamental changes to this great club both on and off the pitch.
Everton in state of crisis!

I'm dont see how this is different to anything Everton have done for the last 30 years.

Struggled since the 80's right enough.

They sacked their director of football and brought in a guy who seems equally adept at paying big money for bang average players. Now at the limit of FFP so they had two million to spend. Spent it well in fact on Gray for once.
Of the 380m they have spent you could only really say that Richarlison and Digne have actual quality and Doucoure and Allan half decent. Possibly Mina.
They want to get up there with Arsenal (at the time) and Utd so bought Iwobi, Walcott and Schniderlin.
They wont go down, nor do I want them to, but it's on them. Signing Rafa was bizarre.
They've been unlucky to lose Achelotti though tbf.

spent loads of ££ on players no good enough to take them into top 6
everton have never been the big club they were since the premier league began in the early 90s

A couple of days ago? Was last night.
Typical Everton seeing it as a cup final.. and full of nerves.
Don’t know what Rafa could have done to prevent them losing.

"A couple of days ago" versus "last night"....OK!
I didn't mean to hurt your feelings.
"What could Rafa have done to prevent them (from) losing?"....He clearly didn't have them prepared to win the game!

Liverpool are just too good a team for Everton to contend with.
There’s a huge gulf in class.

Everton haven't really been a rival to Liverpool for over 30 years tbh
Everton lost their big club status when the Premier League began. Been living off past glories ever since

Only time it’s been close is when we’ve been shiite or that one time they got top 4 only to bottle the CL in the qualifiers.

I never thought Rafa would get the sack, but it must be close

Things don't seem to be getting better, do they? Even the fans are beginning to register their anger at the performances they are seeing.

there maybe a gulf in ability of squads but having had personal contact with both sets of fans, lavirpool stack up to Everton in a negative way in as far as class is concerned. Horrible snakey feckers liverpool fans
