Conte's error yesterday was not taking Tanganga off at HT.
Tanganga is not the sort of player who can play on a yellow card - he is aggressive and likes to attack the ball.
Playing against Hudson-Odoi was always going to see him see red if he continued.
Chelsea scored their goal because Tanganga couldn't engage when H-O broke down their left. If Japhet or another isn't on a card, H-O gets taken out down that wing.
Doherty should have been moved to RB at HT with Skipp coming on forJT imo.
Still absolutely shocking that we didn't go in 1-0 up.

I have no idea why Tanganga continues to be picked, he has made several errors leading to goals
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Tanganga is a lower level Premier League player at best and has no business being a starter at a club which claims to have Champions League ambitions. Forget the top 6 there isn’t a top 10, top 12, Premier League club he would be starting at.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He's Cameron Carter Vickers mk2
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think it's harsh to label JT like this.
He's young and in a bit of a poor spell (leading to goals against)... just needs a break so he can reset.

Is anyone else just tired of being passive all the time? I get that the team isn't what it was 4 years ago but to play with two central defenders, four full backs and two defensive midfielders is the sort of thing a conference side does in the F.A Cup third round. We're Tottenham for Christ's sake, not Accrington Stanley. It happened under Jose and it's happening under Conte too.
Maybe they're just not capable of paying on the front foot but when you look at a team like Brighton and the kind of football they play on a shoestring budget, you can't tell me the same can't be done for a vastly more expensively assembled side in Spurs.
We might get fourth but I'm a bit sick of the cautiousness and the lack of faith in flair players. It's not who we are. I'm still with Conte all the way but I'd like to see him have at least one or two mavericks in the side.

Can't help thinking that part on the terms of the contracts/ pay-offs managers sign at Chelsea is that they have to go into full sabotage mode if they ever manage Spurs.... AVB, Jose & Conte.... starting to see a trend here !!!

Brighton are not loaded with lots if flair players. It's their system under Potter which catches the eye.
I'm not overly fussed about having a flair player or creative mid. One, there are not too many around who are within our budget. Two, having a creative player in the middle of pitch, would gives us that classic soft cente Tottenham midfield which leak goals. And finally there would be too emphasis on that player to perform week in week out. It would make us become one dimentational. Every now again they might win us a match but they would be target.
I prefer Conte's approach at his former clubs using full backs, playing the ball fast throught the middle and counter attacking. It should in theory make us more solid and hard to beat.

Bad choice of words on my part. I say flair players but what I really mean is a flair team. Brighton, for all their lack of one single creative world beater, play creatively as a team and what to command a game. Every successful club commands games. Very rarely will you see a side repeatedly win silverware and not dominate the ball.
The problem with not having the ball in a Conte system, and this has been proved by us having a relatively poor record against the top half teams this year, is that if you don't have the ball, those crucial wingbacks drop far too deep which creates a disconnect with the players at the top end of the pitch.
I'd prefer a return to the Poch style really. Not with him but someone of his ilk. A long term plan, a playing philosophy and see where that gets us. As good as Conte is, he will demand something of the board they just won't give. The ambitions aren't aligned.
I'm on board with Conte but I stand by what I said in the summer before Nuno came in - we should be banging the door down at Brighton to get Potter.

Wouldn’t Emerson have been the right option?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Assumed he was injured... was he on the bench?
If Emerson was fit, then I really cannot understand why he didn't start over Tanganga.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It was reported that Emerson was only on the bench to make up the numbers, he's not properly fit. Not sure why.

Why would you want Potter over Conte? Potter has won just six games of 22 this season. What makes you think Spurs should be knocking down the door at Brighton to get him? His he that good? I don`t think so.
He is OK, and that is about it.

I'm not saying we should be. I'm happy with Conte. My doubts aren't about him. They're about how aligned the club's philosophy is with his own. I don't think they are and we tend to know how that ends. He's had a few months to gauge what we need and he's come to the conclusion that there's a huge gulf in quality between the top 3 and us. That means the ownership will have to spend like they've never spent before in order to keep him at the club. I just don't think it will happen and I think deep down you'd all admit the same.
My admiration for Potter has nothing to do with Brighton's form as you need context to judge a manager. He's managing Brighton so of course they're going to lose games. It's the manner of their performances and the progress they've made under him that stand out for me. A lot of the losses have been about a lack of finisher rather than any tactical issues from the management. He was called xGraham Potter for a reason.
A lot of fans never take context into account when a new manager comes in. They think that because we've got a manager that's had previous success at Juve, Chelsea and Inter, he can do the same with us. Take another glance at those teams and tell me they don't have a history of winning anyway. The teams Conte has previously manager flatter him in the same way Potter's smaller club history plays down his own achievements.
I think he's more than okay and if things did go south with Conte, Potter is the first man I'd be on the phone to but that's just me. I just think we need to return to the model of building again rather than bringing in a silverware manager used to infinitely better players. In short, Conte is a square peg in a round hole. Both Potter and Poch fit the club better for footballing and financial reasons. I hope I'm wrong and Levy backs Conte but I just can't see it.
