When he took the job he and everyone knew summer 2023 was the proper window to rebuild the squad.
If this is true why does he keep referring to a vision when we haven't even had a summer window.
Surely you wait till after the window to state your vision is not the same as the clubs.
I wish it wasn't true but he is trying to get excuses in for the fact he has struggled to get better results than Nuno with the same playing squad and easier fixtures.
On the positive we are seeing a pattern of play but over reliance on our weakest positions seems to contradict what a good coach does which is maximise your strengths....not expose your weaknesses.
Jury still out for me regarding Conte. But we still support Spurs through thick and thin.
Does Conte have us hoodwinked?

Why are people annoyed at Conte keep reiterating what is wrong with this club? He is calling the club out for wanting success, but not providing the appropriate tools and needing to change their approach so he can propel the club into a successful unit. Nothing wrong with this whatsoever. Conte is releasing the frustrations of most of us Spurs fans for the last 10 years. The only people bothered by Conte talking is the Levy/ Enic apologists.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I know what you are saying mate and I agree but only to an extent
Conte is saying what we all want said but do it in the summer, there is nothing to gain moaning and whinging now ….in fact he is probably annoying some of the squad constantly saying how rubbish they are
I am a 100% levy and Enic out man but I also want conte to tone it down a bit too
Going for all their throats at the end of the season I’m on board with
Although I’m still unsure of him , always feels like he is one minute from resigning and do we really want to spend loads of money on a team built for him
I’m very concerned about him , which really disappoints me as I wanted him
Just not the circus
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Was about to respond to Don's post but you've pretty much summed up what I was going to say.
I want ENIC out as much as the rest of us but it does feel like Conte is almost warning us he's gonna leave. To me he doesn't sound committed which I think is troubling for the ownership. Why would they back a man who could be out the door in a heartbeat?
It feels at times like dating a girl who you're punching above you're weight with and she's constantly reminding you she could do better. What does that do to your self-esteem?
Publicly moaning about ambition when the club haven't exactly had a chance to prove they're willing to back him is just ridiculous. It's March. He needs to wait until the transfer window opens and they've sat down and had recruitment discussions before beating us with a stick. Until then, Antonio, get on with your job.
Let's be honest here. We've lost at home to Wolves, Southampton and away in the Cup to Middlesborough. With the squad we have we should be winning those games. If we're not that's down to the manager as much as the players. If you really want to be backed with an ambitious budget Antonio, prove you're worth backing. I've not seen much evidence of that up to now.
I honestly think that ENIC will be looking at this thinking he's more trouble than he's worth. If he leaves, I don't think Levy will give a damn.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Spot on π
The more he moans the more likely he resigns meaning the less chance of improving the squad as why give him money to spend
He maybe saying the right things but it’s all in the wrong way at the wrong time

Got no problem with Conte speaking his mind. We knew this was part of his make up when he was hired. He is a winner who wants to win. Good for him.

Conte is a top manager and we just need to persevere with him. No new manager can suddenly make a struggling club challenge for the league just like that, and you can never really put a time frame on how long it will take to make the transition because they are going to need the right players. I do feel with Bentancur and Kulu we've at least made a start in the right direction. Both upgrades on what we had before.

Conte has picked up a rag tag squad put together by various managers with different styles.
He is faaacked until he summer at which point we need to ship a lot of dross out and rebuild how he wants.
Personally I thought the Jan window was very encouraging - Ndombele, Lo Celso and Dele all faaaacked off and 2 decent arrivals who have hit the ground running.
If we can shift Winks, Sanchez, Royal and bring in a decent CB, RWB, creative midfielder and back up for Kane then we will be out of excuses if we’re not competing
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Interesting take on things.
The way I see it we've sold Dele on a performance related fee so we won't get near the 40m that totals his fee should all the clauses be met. On current form, I doubt this will go over 10m.
Then you have Ndombele and Lo Celso, both of which are on loan at clubs that would find it hard to find the money required to sign both permanently. So neither of those have actually 'faaaaacked off'.
Then, whilst Kulu looks decent, I've seen nothing from Bentancur that makes me think he's hit the ground running. I think he looks pretty average personally. Like a pound shop Kranjcar, who isn't far off pound shop quality himself.
Of our other signings under Paratici, only Romero looks cultured on the ball but it's becoming increasingly clear being good on the ball doesn't make you a good defender. He's not looking as good as we all thought. Everyone else we've signed is just terrible - Royal, Gil, Golini.
We're a long way off it with this squad and still so much surgery required.
—————————
Bentancur is nothing like Krancjar. One plays as an inverted winger/ number 10 and one plays the no.5 or 6 role. But I agree on the outgoings - strange moves - I think it is more us putting Ndombele and Lo Celso in the shop window in the hope they hit a bit of form in comfortable familiar leagues for them.

Nah not for me …time and place mate
Yeah I want the winner in him and I love him on the touch line
Just wish he wouldn’t do interviews π
If fellow spurs fans think him speaking his mind on how shat the squad is helps us finish as high as we can then I’m at a loss
He is right but he needs to motivate not destroy the squads confidence
Not all players (especially ours) respond to this kind of psychology ….we have done seriously weak players
Poch would tell squad fodder they were good , it worked

Those who don't respond should be shipped out. Got no time for soft babies who can't handle a few words of truth. It's not like he is naming names anyway.

Do it in the summer when they can be sold though
No point destroying players you need now
It’s counter productive

As an example to what Conte has had in the past compared to what he might get here, in 15/16 Leicester won the league and Chelsea came 10th. He came in that summer of 2016 and Chelsea bought Leicester's best player, Kante, for around £35 Million. Could you ever imagine us doing that?
We finished 3rd that year (should have been 2nd), we had CL to offer. Why weren't we in for Kante at that price, which is basically what we paid for Sissoko at the end of that window anyway?
Just one example of many bad decisions that will continually hold us back.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well said.
People get hung up on the idea that we don't spend under ENIC but the reality is that Levy has been consistently awful in deciding when and where to spend that money.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agreed but is it Levy that selects the targets? Hitchen and the managers create their shortlist of options.

Yeah of course. I'm not suggesting Levy does everything but he's the one who ultimately decides if we're going to do the deal for the players the manager and DoF identify.
Plus he's responsible for hiring the right people in those positions. And as a result, he's responsible for the culture and identity those hires create at the club both on and off the pitch.
I think most fans can forgive the odd bad signing or missed opportunity, it happens, and is always easy to judge these things in hindsight. But repeating the same mistakes with no apparent plan or strategy is shocking for a club of our size. I'd suggest that if Levy wasn't part owner he'd have been forced out long ago.

Nothing he has said so far should be destroying any player. He simply talking about his vision. I think you are being a tad sensitive and taking his words out of context.
