Amongst many of our fans when Spurs win it’s all because of Conte, but when we lose it’s all because of the players.
I saw the pre-match interview with Conte. He summarised Brighton as a very tactical team with the ability to change formation during a game.
It was obvious within five minutes that our formation was not working. The midfield was owned by Brighton from start to finish mainly because they had an extra man in midfield.
Fast forward to the post match interview with Conte. He made it pretty clear that he hoped to get a point from the game once he realised that tactically we were beaten and unlikely to win. His substitutions back this up. All like-for-like. No attempt to change it up.
It’s a concern that Conte doesn’t seem to have the ability or inclination to change tactics mid-game. You could say he doesn’t have the personnel available to do so, but is there any evidence in his past career to prove otherwise?
Graham Potter did a number on us today and it’s hard not to come away with the feeling that the better, more modern and flexible manager won the game.
This is not Conte out. It’s more Potter next
Conte 0-1 Potter

Potter is a wizard to be fair. I’d want him as Utd manager.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You should have him as your manager. And serve you right!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They could do much worse and no doubt will.
Potter's a very good manager and losing two of three to spurs doesn't change that.
As far as losing seven straight, that also doesn't make him a poor manager. They were in most of those games. You can't blame him for having a limited budget.

I do like Potter and would have him as Spurs manager but not at the expense of Conte. To be saying Potter is the better manager based on this game is silly. Potter has a long way to go before he matches Conte and there are non-tactical aspects that Conte may be better at such as in the training methods and the winning mentality.
We got tactically outplayed but we need to relax, we are still favourites for top 4 and I believe will win the majority of the rest of our games. We still know there is room for improvement with the quality of the squad which could have made a difference yesterday i.e. upgrades on the players we brought off the bench.

If Brighton had some goal scorers in their team they would be challenging for 5th ot 6th. In both gaames agst us (Chelsea) this season they went toe to toe. They just lack goals.

Completely agree with this. He’s a great manager and he’s got this Brighton team, assembled for peanuts, playing great football in the top half of the table. Before Potter, Hughton was playing terrible football and scraping survival every season.
To say he has lost seven on the spin is a total misunderstanding of the club he’s at. It’s Brighton. They’re going to lose more than most. Is he making them greater than the sum of their parts though? Absolutely. He’s proving himself to be as capable as Poch was at Southampton before he joined us. I’d be really happy if he became our next boss. If he doesn’t, you just watch. He’ll probably replace Arteta at Arsenal and do a great job.

Losing 7 regardless of club is a completely dogchut return for any top league team. Abysmal.

Don’t understand why, if we are outnumbered in midfield & struggling to score... we don’t just take a centre half... ie Davies... revert to a flat back 4... bring on Moura or Bergwijn... Surely??

...or revert to a back four and bring on another midfielder.
OK, that would be Winks so not ideal, but you don't affect a change by taking Bentancur off and bringing on Winks, or taking Kulusevski off and bringing on Moura, or taking Son off and bringing on Bergwijn.
Up to that Brighton game, Spurs were the form team in the Prem having scored 14 odd goals in the previous three games, and after yesterday's game that same Spurs side had ZERO shots on goal in 90 minutes due to Brighton's tactics.
Conte is an 'elite' manager, and we're lucky to have him, but he's not flawless. I just hope that Potter hasn't provided a blueprint for other teams to kill us, especially if there's no plan B.
