Away is going to be tough.
How to make it easier.
Play Garnacho instead of Elanga.
Play Fred and Casemiro,
Alas we need a CF, hence Ronaldo
Based on today's showing Leicester

Is this in jest? Leicester have been appalling so far and got battered by 10 men for large parts of today; to lose a team with 10 from the 26th minute is shocking
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No it's not in jest. They were all over Chelsea towards the end and really should have scored.
Rodgers is a good manager, but they are selling goof players without replacing them, also we are not City.
We need to be at our best to beat teams like them away.
I'm going for a draw.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You can’t guarantee any result with United, given, but I think it’s a little bizarre to single out Leicester in particular, after one of the worst transfer windows in PL memory, an awful start to the season, and their fans screaming for Rodgers to be sacked.
As I say, Chelsea had 10 from the 26th minute and managed to go two up in that time. Fatigue is inevitable after that length of time with a man down, so you wouldn’t expect anything less than a strong finish from Leicester, given their advantage and the scoreline.
I wouldn’t bet against a draw, but that’s an indictment of United as opposed to an appraisal of Leicester; I’d have them down with Bournemouth as the kindest opposition in the league at present.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So you think Pool will score nine?
Bizarre to single out Leicester? They're our next opponents, bizarre for a United fan not to know that.
I don't care what the fans are screaming for, his record shows Rodgers is a good manager
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Where have I stated that I wasn’t aware they were our next game?
It is my opinion - so need to take anything to heart or get agitated by it - that it is bizarre to single out Leicester as a potentially difficult forthcoming match, as opposed to others, given several negative factors surrounding that club, it’s manager, and it’s team at this moment in time, particularly after an abysmal day on their behalf today.
Had you said “hey guys, Leeds have had a strong start and we have them coming up - might be difficult to come away with a win” I’d have totally agreed. Equally, had you said “Leicester have been rubbish, but so have we, so I’m not optimistic” I’d have totally agreed.
The wording “based on today’s showing” threw me because, as mundane and minimal as we were, Leicester were awful, conceded two against ten men, and ultimately lost after having played 80 minutes with a man’s advantage. There isn’t a PL team that wouldn’t have been utterly disappointed by that result and performance, had they changed shoes with Leicester today.
Re Pool and scoring nine, football doesn’t work that way and you know it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Let’s get a bit of context to this. First and foremost, even down to 10 men, Chelsea’s team are probably worth about £500m more than Leicesters. Even down to 10 men at home, they’re dangerous and they have very good that can change games.
We battered Chelsea for the last 20 mins, had an unfairly disallowed goal and were well worth a point. I could dig out a few games I’m sure where the away team has gone down to 10 and the opposition didn’t go and win the game. Had Man City gone down to 10 would you have expected us to beat them?
Had this been a home game I could understand your point, but the level of opposition, even down to 10 men, is miles above Leicester
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I agree with that right now, but I think that’s testament to where Leicester are at the moment. During Rodgers’ first season in charge, that result would’ve been slammed by the fans, because there was optimism and belief in the side’s quality. Now, after a very poor 2022 in general, it’s shrugged aside and statements like that ring true.
Roundabout way of saying: the Leicester we are seeing right now are not the side we’ve come to think of in recent years, ergo my thought that they, alongside Bournemouth, are probably the teams you’d want to be facing in the league right now (permitting that there are no easy games, of course).
This isn’t born of a few bad games, as 52 said, Pool had a really poor start, but are still riddled with quality; this is months of mediocrity, ostensible disharmony between manager, club leadership, and fans, and a horrendous transfer window.
Never confident of a win these days, mind!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The other side of this is actually we are a team a lot of sides want to be facing right now

Leicester finished ninth last season, which is not awful. The transfer window was poor, but hardly Rodgers fault.
I don't see them on the same level as Bournemouth at all.
But ignoring all that, we are still seen as a scalp.
So I anticipate a tough game. As I say in the OP, we didn't play that well today, so we need our best team and form imo.

I agree with that. It’s not exactly in the realms of hyperbole when Neville & Co. say we’re the easiest team to play against in the league.
Avoiding any optimism, but the structure of the defence has at least looked a lot better in the past couple of games

I think Rodgers is right to sell his "goof players".

Me two. Poo players bring the quality down, we knead grate players.

Yes, if we can keep the same players fit, our defence is finally looking the part. Not watertight, but not so easy to walk through.

Based on today's showing I think Leicester are in huge trouble. But we weren't great either. And ideally I'd like your suggestions to be implemented. It's just not going to happen though.
What I hope is that whatever team we field in midweek continue to do the things that got them in front if and when they get in front. The manner in which we defended the lead against Southampton was cup giant killer style. We're better than that. But haven't shown it in literally years. It's embarrassing. Go out and finish the job
