Very symbolic match today, to be able to try and judge where we are compared to our 2-1 win in May.
Don';t know what happened to Kristensen, but he's been poor defensively and so good to see Drameh ahead of Ayling who needs to be eased in.
I thought we looked relatively comfortable without really threatening, but defence looked turnable.
I thought penalty decision could go either way, really hard to to judge exactly, but once given really good penalty and its uphill battle as we're simply not getting any shots on goal.
Striuijk often high up the pitch, but no end product from that side, Harrison very subdued.
Koch looked ok to start but gradually got worse and Llorente, well, I've said for a while that he's a liability.
I thought Drameh did ok in difficult circumstances.
Aaron was ineffective, Roca quiet except for goal, Adams was good in covering back for when Struijk went forwards.
I don't believe that officials are biased, we put in silly challenges around our area and we're going to get punished and what a great free kick for them to go 2-0 up.
Out of nowhere Sinisterra pops up with a great goal with only our second shot on target but otherwise was relatively quiet.
The aggressive press is not there and we miss James part in that.
Gelhardt was quiet, had a half chance but that was about it and not really winning any free kicks.
Good to see Bamford on and Harrison was poor, so that's fair enough, and I wanted to see the Gelhardt, Bamford partnership but then Gelhardt's off and Summerville and Klich on and Ayling for Drameh but it all looks very much the same.
Bamford misses absolute sitter but needs time to get match sharp, and then Ayling shows his worth going forwards to set up Roca.
Amidst all this Marsch gets himself sent off for stupidly being out of technical area all the time and isnt that two cards in two matches for him?
He has to show better leadership. We've already had problems due to red cards last season and failing to control players this season, he has to set a better example.
Oh yeah and Brentford score a few more goals.
Really poor defending from Koch, Lllorente and Meslier and this result puts a very different complexion on our season than the one a couple of weeks ago v Chelsea.
Lots of rave reviews then for Aarosnon, but he's not lived up to that since. We've lost our leading scorer and told the word we've got great striking options, better than our peers.....are our strikers better than Tomey?
Looking at last 3 matches, I think we're in for a very hard season.
We have to hop Bamford gets match sharp in double quick time, that Sinisterra gets better and better and that Harrison becomes more effective more of the time.
Additionally, bring Cooper back in, take Llorente out of firing line.
Window is closed now, did we learn from last year as AR said we would?
Based on todays performance, there is only one answer.
Thoughts from today

Just watching the Summerville foul again. Clear penalty
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Definite foul but contact started well outside the box so never a penalty

Just say you didn't see it couldn't be clearer.

Well I’ve just had the day from hell! Leeds losing has put the tin lid on it!
Was going to Spain on holiday, Due to fly at 12.45, got checked in an hour behind time, only to be told there’s a problem with the plane. 3 and a half hours later we board a different plane. We land at Reus in Spain in a thunder storm and are not allowed to leave the plane. It was still throwing it down when we finally left the plane to get on the buses and by the time we got to the airport us and everything was wet through. When we got our cases they were dripping. We arrived at our hotel over 6 hours late, just had time to grab a bit of dinner before the restaurant closed. When we finally got to our room to unpack, almost every item of clothing was wet through! The room looks like a Spanish bazaar with every surface covered in wet clothes. A new white top of mine is ruined because blue dye has run into it from another top.
Then to learn that Leeds lost - well, that’s the final straw. What a lousy start to our holiday.

3 key decisions today.
- 50/50 penalty decision that took VAR 3 minutes to decide it was. Not clear and obvious - Brentford decision but incorrect
- 100/0 penalty for Summerville - Brentford decision but incorrect
- The potential offside - does Toney get a slight touch. Unfortunately we need a snickometer to get the truth. Brentford decision. Very likely correct. No evident to suggest he did get a touch
Definitely influences the game but ultimately we lost because we have central defenders who cannot win the first ball.

This. Under bielsa and marsch we ask a lot of our central defenders and llorente and Koch might be internationals but they’re not fit for purpose in our system (and likely anyone else’s) in the PL

Which was a shame because 80%+ of our cogs were in good order today. We should have scored 4 goals away from home. I honestly felt the other 8 starting outfield players were all good.

Theres a little tug on the shirt, followed by the Brentford player getting round Summervilles shoulders, then bundles him fully over inside the area. Maybe Kebab is right and the rules are it should be a penalty, and if so that's fair enough, but I've seen these things 100s of times and the ref always takes it back to where the first contact was initiated? The fact no foul at all was given when there are at least 3 is the biggest mystery of all.
But nah, I didn't see it 🙄

Thanks, Jonty. I’ve had to hire an iron from reception and iron almost all the clothes in the wardrobe this afternoon and then hang them outside in the sun as they still aren’t dry! Things can only get better.
If I had been at home watching the match, I would have been so angry as I hate refs who seem to be biased against us. I need to find a sports bar to watch our next game on the Monday night.

The worst aspect for me was not VAR, it was their fourth goal. We had just scored, were well in the game and we, sorry, Llorente, goes and shoots us in the head. But we could see he was struggling to deal with Toney from the start, so why was he not subbed earlier?

4th goal was Koch.
