Quite a few screenshots of bets made before yesterday's match especially once the team news came out and it was confirmed Rodri would not play. A few punters piled on United. At the same time you had a few pundits including Neville predicting an upset and the usual line that you can get at City.
Now first of all any team can be got at. Even prime Barca had weaknesses. Secondly, this is hardly Pep's strongest City side. City's strongest and most dynamic side was when David Silva and Sane were unplayable on the left and Sterling Kun and Jesus scored for fun. But even that team had Otamendi and Delph at left back and in other seasons KDB missed more than half the season.
My 2nd point is to acknowledge that we are a bit one-paced at the moment, the press is not as coordinated as in the past and unlike the last 2 seasons we are a bit easy to get behind. But the difference now is we have a player who doesn't need 3 chances to score.
For united to win yesterday, they had to play as Dortmund did. Play wingers whose primary job is to defend and cover the fullbacks and drop either Bruno or Erikssen and play Cassemiro. The game was over when the line-ups were announced as Ten Hag was a bit naive.
Which comes to the point I don't get about people predicting a united win especially at the Etihad because with Haaland, even if United led 2-0 with 20-30 minutes to go I would still back the team to win the game. Thats how much the mentality in this group has improved since last season and I am not sure a lot of people realise this at all.
Our 2 best games last season against good opposition were Real at home (4-3) and Liverpool at Home (2-2) where Pep's tactics blew away the opposition but we failed to put our chances away.
This season don't care how good you are, you cannot afford to play an attacking formation at the Etihad, you will likely get smashed. Will be interesting to see how Arteta, Potter or Conte set up at the Etihad. We know Klopp will never change the way he sets up so no point there.

I know exactly what you're trying here. Sly digs at me again... 'United fans predicting a win are daft'
It's bullying.

I keep a PL spreadsheet for all the results. My WASP, (win and score predictor) gave a prediction of 4 -1 to City so 6 - 3 was along the right lines on goal difference. Man Utd have a lot of improvement to do in defence.
The headlines call it a "thrashing" but City won by 3 goals. 3 - 0 would be considered a normal win and 9 - 6 would be "an amazing football spectacular".
I expect Manchester City will have bigger wins this season, Liverpool too.
I hope for a top four place for United at the end of the season and then, as so often in recent years, kick on next year. Recurring theme here...

Make no mistake this was a thrashing!

BTW, how much did United's defence cost yesterday?

No idea but we didn't need to get a Sheikh to pay our bills.

The Sheikh stopped pay our bills long before any of our current squad were bought.

Most of us have stated time and again that we are very much a work in progress and will be in for some losses as we hopefully progress under ETH.
City away was always likely to be one of those loses. It was a shame that it was such an easy win, but we wont be the only team to get smashed there.
Onwards and upwards, hopefully this is just a blip rather than anything more serious.

I think the few games we’ve seen this season will turn out to be pretty representative of the season as a whole. One week a Brentford/City nightmare, the next a Liverpool/Arsenal night to remember. A bit of a rollercoaster really.

No. You built your club off sweat and elbow grease, and yes, a large investment from your shareholders.

Don’t people tend to bet when the odds favour themselves winning more money?
Would imagine a United win paid out a lot more than a city win…

Culer seemed to think the cost of of our defence was important after we conceded 3 goals.
