But it would be hard to find a more opaque bookmaker than 8XBet, the Thai, Indonesian and Vietnamese-facing operation that Manchester City recently announced as its Asian betting partner.
It has many of the hallmarks of a company keeping its cards close to its chest: a founder who doesn’t seem to exist online; a CEO appearing to hide behind a stolen avatar; a backstory that doesn’t align with publicly available records.
It also has a ghostly presence on social media. 8XBet’s LinkedIn account lists just two employees, for example. Neither of them appear legitimate.
Facebook Page Transparency data shows that 8XBet’s primary English-language Facebook account is run from the United Arab Emirates.
Other 8Xbet accounts are also shown as being managed or co-managed from the UAE.
Data obtained through the Twitter API shows that posting times to the bookmaker’s primary English-language account on that platform line up with UAE office hours.
This stands out for two reasons.
Firstly, the bookmaker specifically targets south-east Asian countries like Vietnam, Indonesia and Thailand.
Secondly, it’s a country with a strong connection to Manchester City.

They need to be properly investigated, it’s a joke.

yeah united have wasted money, but i am completely understand that there money comes from having such a massive fan base, that goes for all the top sides, bar 2.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It’s true, and there’s a certain element of credit in that.
But how would a smaller club ever compete without a cash injection?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The sky TV deal means that Rangers and Celtic are out spent by lower PL and championship clubs. In what world should clubs that have massive fan bases and play in Europe be unable to spend so little in comparison
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don’t think comparing clubs from different leagues is helpful.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's relevant because prior to the money injected into the English game has created a world where finishing last in the Premier league makes more money than qualifying for the champions league.
If we are talking about financial fair play based on club size and success then it's completely relevant
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It’s not relevant to a discussion about the fairness of City’s finances in English football, which I assume this is.

Culer. I have no idea whether City are financial doping.
What I do know is that they are the team they are because of good signings and excellent management.
Klopp is not far equalling them, and if SAF was still our manager it would be very interesting.
It's up to the rest of us to get up there, not pull them down, we have spent the same and are on our sixth manager since Fergie.
So let's back the current one and see how far we can go.

well said sir. Without the money in the PL we would be watching matches of the quality that you and I remember in the 70's. Lots of hoofball into patches of mud and the likes of Chopper Harris booting anybody with skill into the 3rd row.
We thought it exciting but I'd rather watch the likes of Bernardo, Eriksen, KDB, Jesus etc plying their trade than that. It is up to others to catch up, and up to City to try to stay ahead.

Why do City need to do these sort of deals with no mark companies nobody has heard who don't seem to have a CEO but are based in the UAE?
Why are they buying up football clubs in every corner of the globe that don't make any money? How many are there now?
How very convenient that Etihad just happened to be the best deal on the table? An airline that their owner's brother runs that hasn't posted a profit in it's entire history.

Who the fek are Team Viewer?

TeamViewer’s was the largest European IPO of 2019…

Team Viewer - £47m a year for shirt sponsorship.
Eithad - £20m a year for shirt, stadium and acadamy naming rights.
Etihad will be miffed if they have to drop part of their deal with the Champions because it's obviously good VFM.

City's infamous 10 year deal with Etihad was reportedly worth £400m, so that's £40m a year.
It's now worth iro £67m a year according to reports.

£200m of that went on the training ground as repeatedly mentioned on here

ofcourse they are doping, they dont have the fan base to justify the deals that get made, they have a higher revenue than every single club

I'm so pleased you have done in depth market research on City's fanbase.
