A lot of noise is made when VAR gets something wrong, but I always wonder whether VAR is actually getting more right than wrong. When a team is saved by VAR, nobody makes a big fuss, not the fans, not the media.
I think it's safe to say Liverpool wouldn't have gotten 3 points yesterday without VAR. That ref was actually going to allow that goal. We would have probably got zero points without VAR. If they can implement it properly and consistently then football would be much better for it IMO.

Who cares about a corner or a goal kick.
...
even when the goalkick ultimately led to the build up for a goal (albeit was disallowed for another reason). youve gone from wrongly taking an attacking set piece away from one team and giving a goal scoring event to the other team. of course people should care ffs

Nah come on do we really want VAR to check corners , throw ins and every foul.. because thats we are going to go with it. Can't blame not getting a corner at one end of the pitch for conceding a goal on the other. Be careful what you wish for.

I think that’s where the problem is because our understanding of the game and what needs to be corrected is not the same.
A lot of fans don’t realise you can’t correct everything in the game hence why you have specific items VAR can revisit. The number of phases as to how far it can go back needs to be addressed because you find a lot of fans who like to find reasons to chalk of a goal when it suits them but then again if a player benefits from an offside call not being made and 20 uninterrupted passes later it results in a goal the. Surely that needs to be looked at.
The principle for VAR must be if a team has gained a clear unfair disadvantage.
Crying over goal kicks and corners takes the game into new territory unless these decisions are made fast enough. That’s why VAR misses quite a lot of things because so many things are being checked.

Another VAR ref would have interrupted it differently which is the problem.

Interrupted
But how much of this sequence of play can be interpreted differently by anyone? There's the goal kick instead of corner, foul on Fab and ball kicked out of Allison's hands.
I know interpretation matters but not always. Would you say the ref allowing the two blatant fouls on Salah is a matter of interpretation? That's too far.

One thing I don't really get is why they can't intervene on decisions like Salah's shot being given as a goal kick yesterday.
I understand we don't want games reffed solely from behind a screen, but something like that could surely be checked and communicated back to the on field ref before the keeper has even put the ball down to take the kick as it only needs one replay.

I said this when VAR came in and few people laughed, but a fan sitting on his couch watching on TV and linked to the ref would do a better job than the VAR team. Correct decision within 10 seconds. Makes you wonder what the fack is going on.

The Saliba handball was one spotted by VAR which the ref didn't see. Still garbage though 👍

That and Bamford goal which was deemed as a foul
I think Arsenal are running out of lives...Tide will turn soon
----------------------------------------------------------------------
VAR got the penalty very wrong because a Leeds player was a mile offside when he got the ball.
VAR was correct with the clear Bamford foul before he scored, and then again with the Bamford foul on Gabriel and the playacting to trick the ref into sending off Gabriel.
A mixed bag at Elland Road.

The game wasn't even that bad before VAR. It has genuinely sucked some life out of football

I think its more of a case of they could have hid under the "is it clear and obvious" BS

Of course you can blame not getting a corner on conceding a goal
It might not be immediately responsible but if the corner is given that entire sequence of play doesn't happen. People have been moaning about those decisions ever since TV replays became a thing.
I don't know why anyone would be opposed to checking the likes of corners and goal kicks when it can be done in literally 5 seconds 99% of the time.

VAR is a great thing, it’s the idiots running it that are the problem. The VAR refs do all they can not to imply that the on field hasn’t got it wrong when that’s what they’re actually there to do!
They missed Bernardo Silva kicking out at Salah once the ball had gone!

glad somebody gets it lol
i couldnt care less who wins out of liverpool and city but i want to see correct decisions given as much as possible. when the tv footage is there for everyone to see within 2 replays wheres the hardship in the var ref letting the match ref know
multi billion pound industry and people are happy for continuous mistakes to be made. wouldnt happen in any other sector
