Are we allowing austerity back? And Johnson?

So here we are.

After Cameron and his brexit referendum and austerity

After May and her three years of failed brexit negotiations and continued austerity

After Johnson sacking everyone who didn’t agree with and him being able to lie and give his mates dodgy deals, we are left with people like Liz truss and Reece mogg in cabinet

After Liz truss crashed the economy, breaking the pound and causing families untold pain in higher mortgage rates

Now Jeremy ‘I destroyed the nhs’ hunt bringing back austerity, protecting bankers pay, taking away gas bill security

NOW THEY WANT TO BRING BACK JOHNSON?!!

These utter filthy Khants have made our nation so so much worse than it was back in 2010 when the took power

You cannot blame it all on covid and the Ukraine. These utter monsters have consistently put their desire to be in power over what is right for the country, to such an extent nurses rely on food banks, children are reportedly seen eating rubbers at school because they’re so hungry and many elderly will die of hypothermia this winter as they cannot afford to heat their homes

There is simply no defence for these abhorrent sub humans any more. You cannot even cling to them being the party of fiscal responsibility.

If you vote Tory I almost pity you now. You must be so far gone into the world of the daily mail and the sun that you cannot accept the actual facts in front of your eyes. I make no apologies for saying this.

I hope that if Labour were destroying my country like this and starving my children, I would be screaming for a general election as much as I am right now.

For those of you that are able to vote rationally, beware that there will be the usual spin from the right wing media coming. Blaming workers on strike, immigration and those on benefits. There will be the usual witch hunt against top Labour mp’s, I see monster Jeremy Hunt ludicrously try to blame the state of the nhs on Labour, despite the fact the tories have been in control for ten years and monster Jeremy Hunt himself is the man responsible for a lot of the nhs mess when he was health secretary, including taking away nurses bursaries. In fact before they came to power in 2010, nhs patient satisfaction was higher than it had been in decades.

We may have two years until an election. I hope those of us that make it through that time remember what these monsters have done to our country when they start throwing around catchy slogans and we put an X on our ballot papers

Send these monsters packing. Please.

I think they've been in power for so long because the opposition was so sh!t and Labour needs to share some of this burden. Corbyn basically handed it on a plate to them at a time when people wanted change. I can't stand either of the main parties and don't understand why anyone votes for either.

They’re hinting that they may renege on the Triple Lock Pension promise

Plunging the elderly, their base support, into more hardship will be political suicide as well as completely immoral

If Hunt thinks he can just walz in and impose Austerity on the country again, then he must be as thick as Truss.

Not sure he has thought his brief through properly. Just cutting everything is just not going to wash with the public.

His honeymoon period will be at an end come 1st Novembet.

I think we can pretty much all agree that the Tories are an absolute comedy show at the moment, although no one's really laughing. I'm also in no way, shape or form a fan of Jeremy Hunt, although he's certainly a gazillion times better than the disaster that was Kwasi.

BUT if anyone didn't expect a necessary period of austerity over the next year or two, they really haven't been paying attention. Every country that's had their energy supplies fecked by Putin's war, as we're trying to come out of the worst effects of Covid, will have some form of belt tightening to come down the road. The Government (i.e. the UK taxpayer, both corporate and personal) massively funded the Furlough scheme, and are now massively underwriting all of our energy bills ... both vitally important and essential support mechanisms, but the money to pay for that has to come from somewhere. Basic economics, although clearly above the understanding of the PM and her ex-Chancellor. A windfall tax would certainly help, and I'd be in favour of that, but cuts are going to have to be made as well. Stands to reason.

...and she's binned the Triple Lock despite it being one of her selection pledges.

I’ve always voted Tory but if there was a general election right now I’d vote Labour.

Good for you. I wish there were more like you. It’s not a fa cking football team. You don’t have to support them when they’re relegated. I would be ashamed if Labour had done this and I certainly wouldn’t be voting for them.

I just hope the catchy slogans, spin and lies that are on they’re way over the next two years don’t change your mind.

People have voted labour, because they're labour, for decades - regardless of how good/bad the candidates, policies or performances are. Politics is as tribal as footy, probably more so. More likely to have reasonable banter and debate from opposing fans than you'll ever get from differing political views - this thread sort of illustrates it.
