After last night`s fairly predictable

away loss to one of the so called big boys, we all move on to Newcastle at the weekend, where I expect Spurs to get their season back on track with a win.

Rather predictably all of the negative posters were back out again last night after three wins on the spin, the first sign of a set-back, and they were all whinging again, get rid of Conte, bring back Poch. They know who they are, I don`t need to name them. One even said he was done with Spurs, even though they sit 3rd in the Prem, and Top of their CL group. What a lot of nonsense.

I have said many times on this forum, I never expect anything at Old Trafford, Stamford Bridge, The Emirates or Anfield. Those matches at those four grounds never ever define Spurs season, they never have, and they never will. The only Spurs manager in my lifetime that seemed to be able to get a result at those grounds was Sir Billy Nick, and he never won at Anfield. It is what it is. Yes, Spurs have had the odd draw or victory over my 60 years plus of supporting Spurs, but in general, as much as I always want a win, Spurs just never turn up. So no big deal to me, and I quickly move on.

It is however not only Spurs that lose the big away games. This season

Liverpool have lost at the Emirates and Old Trafford
Man United have lost at the Etihad
Arsenal have lost at Old Trafford
Chelsea have yet to play a so called big away game

So, don`t think this is unique to Spurs, it isn`t. It is just that we have a section of our so called fanbase that expects Spurs to win every game they play.

Spurs are still very handily placed in 3rd position, three points clear of Chelsea, four points clear of United, seven points clear of Liverpool. I would have bitten your hand of if somebody said Spurs would be in this position after having the fixture list they have had, interspersed with CL matches.

Chelsea
West Ham
Arsenal
Man United

all away, and all now done and dusted, yet Spurs are still doing remarkably well, and the season is going exactly as I expected, possibly even better than that.

Spurs now enter a fixture list of relatively calmness

Newcastle (H)
Bournemouth (A)
Liverpool (H)
Leeds (H)
Brentford (A)
Aston Villa (H)

Spurs should be picking up 15 points from those games. Four games at home, and two away games, the sort Spurs usually win.

So come on fellas, let`s not being having these nonsensical meltdowns every time Spurs lose a big away game. Spurs usually recover very well, and string a few wins together.

Last week everyone said they were fed up with the negative stuff, and lo and behold three or four days later it is returned. Just stop it. If Spurs slip down the table, say end up halfway turning the New Year, then fair enough. But right now, there is not a lot not to be happy about.

i think its the manner of those defeats that upset fans sandy, last night was a terrible performance as most of our away defeats are. losing a game that we have played well in is still an enjoyable experience, but watching the dross dished up last night is entitled to be critisized, players not being able to string 2 passes together, constantly giving the ball away is far from enjoyable whatever the final result

garry, but this is not nothing new, poor away performances in big away games. So that is why I don`t let results like last night worry me.

Has anyone forgotten the absolutely no show of the CL final, that was just a typical big game where Spurs didn`t turn up.

We all know exactly the same will happen when Spurs visit Anfield, so I just don`t let it worry me at all.

I am already looking forward to what I expect to be two home victories this coming week. Spurs are just about the most predictable team in world football. You more or less predict their wins and losses down to a tee.

You might enjoy knowing you've picked up the 3 points after the game, but anyone that says they 'enjoy' the 90 minutes watching a Jose or a Conte side with 5 defenders and 3 workhorses in midfield with no game plan other than hope someone makes a tackle and can get it to Son/Kane quickly is a liar imo.

Nah, football can be played in more than one way. I bet when United were losing at the backend of last season, you would have killed your granny just to get a win, however it came.

I like to see good football, but it aint happening in every single match. In fact, it happens in very few matches. How many good games have United played this season? And you have neither Conte or Jose.

Result not the issue for me, expected a loss. But the performance was embarrassing. United had 30 facking shots. Dominated from start to finish and we offered absolutely nothing.

I'm still a fan of Conte, but am struggling to understand why we've regressed performance wise this season after a pre season and £100m+ spent.

However, we now only have 2 big guns away left this season and look very strong at home. I expect a big reaction v Newcastle.

There’s only a handful that want Conte out. No manager is doing better with this lot than Conte is right now.

Agree with OP. It's not a big deal. Man Up and move on. If we lost to Chelsea and drew with Man U....fans would still be moaning.

Surely Spence needs to get a chance....we need rapid players on our flanks to isolate opposition fullbacks

If we're being realistic about how good we're supposed to be, then this team should not be beaten for a long while, even with games against Liverpool and City at home these should be draws at the least. A good winning run or unbeaten run is expected and if it's not achieved then we are underachieving.

MIke's right, both these clubs have supporters that want to be entertained, winning and crap football only works for the McFans.

Sandy, its not the loss but the manner in which you lost.

I respect Conte for what he's achieved in his career (Granted he's only succeeded at "Big", Richest clubs in each country he's managed) and for what he did at Spurs last season. With that said, I hate his brand of football and hate watching this current team. I'm not saying I want him out, I just wouldn't be in the least bit bothered if he left.

Simply truth is that we are not playing to our strengths (30% possession when all your best players are attackers isn't gonna work against the type of teams we are trying to emulate (see last night), its great against Leicester, Everton & Brighton. What's the point of having a defensive/ pragmatic approach when you are giving up possession and allowing 20 odd attempts and then do nothing about until the 80th minute.

As soon as it becomes clear to the likes of Kane and Son that they aint winning a thing at Spurs, because attacking football wins things, they'll be off. Why would you wanna play in a team that sets up to defend above all else and leaves you feeding off scraps in the big games.

Conte is frightened football manager..... Thats not for me. Nothing will change... We'll be top 6, not 4 because we are not brave enough to go after the better sides and overtake them.

Watching Spurs is dreadful, I take ZERO satisfaction from the fact we are 3rd. Having watched Spurs for 38 years I have zero expectation about them winning, I love Spurs because I was brought up on attacking football & flair players.

Despite the start to this season, I still there's something fundamentally & culturally wrong at the club and that Conte is an ill-fitting, short term manager

We'll see
