The manager thing is a fair point to be fair, like who actually would do any better than Southgate? Would just be some random foreigner that doesn’t really give a $hit about England anyway because he’s not English

But he isn’t leaving newcastle (not yet anyway)

Bloke has proven himself as a better club manager than Southgate ever was but realise international footy is so different….maybe Southgate is built for it

I certainly don’t mind him getting another tournament than re look at it again then

The fact England have absolutely no one else to play instead of him makes his comment just about his dislike for him

Maguire had a very good tournament too….he is not getting back in at United as first choice so needs a move in January / summer

Id have him at Tottenham …upgrade on Davies , Dier or Sanchez (comfortabley)

He's had a few average games where he looked dead tired late in the game.
As for the other harry ,should go for more speed and then put in Trent and get some quality in the crosses.

Absolutely not….Wilson should have come on for sure to give him a breather

It’s no wonder he has bad runs of form mate…both club and country are too reliant on him and he gets ran into the ground

But there is no one currently who could start instead of him , not in tournament footy anyway

Thought you may have suggested a pool player 😂 trippier is deserving of the more creative role if required as he can also defend

Trent can’t defend and would be exposed even more at international level ….I rate Trent , a lot, but not as a defender in international football …he is getting exposed this season on a weekly basis

England don’t have any speedy decent centre backs …again we would all love that over Maguire but there are no options (that are quick and good enough)

Southgate is good, the level of management he showed this tournament is really high and he is clearly improving from tournament to tournament as a manager.

There isn't an obvious replacement who would step in and do better. I don't think he is the best tactician but that is less important in international football - what he really excels with is man-management and all the players love him and would run through brick walls for him.

its hardly a bad run is it

im not sure what people expect from england

other than euro 96 we havent looked like coming close in a tournament in forty plus years until southgate came along

it is a really bad run for me.
Context is everything.

The last few years have been the worst Brazil, German, Italian and Argentina sides in probably my life time, and the worst spanish team in a decade or so.

We were favourites v croatia and went 1 up.
We were favourites v italy, went 1 up, then proceeded to sit back for 90 minutes at home at wembley.

As for the France game, the game was there for the taking, brought on sterling who'd been back in england for 5 days consoling a shook up family, brought on grealish for 1 minute and didn't play Maddison for a single minute the whole tournament.

What do people expect from England? I think our team on paper is probably top 2 in the world. And we lose every time theres a crunch game.

Context is everything.
