Reports in the Athletic state that Levy has told Conte on more than 1 occasion that we don't have much money to spend.
If true this is not the best thing anyone wants to hear. Especially when we need a couple more players at least.
With the likes of Newcastle and Arsenal likely to spend to strengthen their positions extremely frustrating!
Budget?

See one of my previous comments. We need to spend more to compete with the big boys.

True. But you're deluded if you think a club like spurs can do that. You're not Chelsea, when a big signing flops, you have to eat it

Chelsea no longer have a financial advantage over Spurs now their sugar daddy has left. They also are not going to generate anywhere near the same amount of money from stadium revenue as Spurs are with their new stadium.
I expect Chelsea to drop off big time over the next couple of seasons. The new owners simply will not have the spending power of the Russian.

I think most have to admit Spurs have upped their game in many departments. Our signings in the last 18 months have all been pretty successful. Those critical of Spurs cheap signings always conveniently ignore that many of our best players are cheap deals. Bentancur Kulusevski and Romero for about the same as Liverpool spent on Nunez.
Many also ignore that we cannot do it in one window. Since Conte has arrived we've added Deki Bentancur Richarlison Perisic Bissouma Lenglet. These are big improvements in 2 windows and while we need more they have to be available and affordable. People talk about needing a top CB RWB and AM and question why we haven't, but that's probably another 150m or more, and we have players to shift too.
I don't buy this "no money to spend" line fed to the media. Let's see what happens. Expectations need to be controlled as the Jan window is in particular hard to get big signings unless you spend silly or find bargains and we don't have limitless money...but we do have money.
Lets just see what we spend and on who. No doubt Conte and Levy working on the same strategy, and if they are not we will soon know about it.
We're a work in progress and are nowhere near the end of our journey. Klopp had Liverpool ending 8th in his first season. We're already well ahead of that curve, and Arteta's progress. For some reason Spurs fans think we should be winning the league right now
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No one is expecting success right now. Not at all. What we are expecting, though, after a year in charge, is a cohesive style of play with real patterns emerging so that we can see Conte's plan. We can't. At the moment, we play passively and let the opponent take charge of the game. They score a goal or two and then we rely on our leaders in Kane and Son to get us out of trouble. What we're seeing are narrow escapes based on individual quality.
Somehow, we're 4th. God knows how but Liverpool will come, United will come, Chelsea will come and before you know it we'll be sitting in 6th playing terrible football.
The reason I loved it under Poch was because you could actually see his team emerging within a couple of months. His pressing, controlling style was like night and day. It wasn't too dissimilar to the changes we saw at Liverpool under Klopp at the start. Can you really see what Conte is trying to do? I get that it's a process and you need the players to be able to implement your style but when consider how crucial wingbacks are to his style, why did we blow 60m on Richy, 30m on Bissouma and another 25 on Gil, three players that don't even start, and not look to upgrade Royal? Even on the left we look woeful. Perisic in flashes has been good but hasn't pulled up any trees and then there's Sess, who surely takes the prize of the most underwhelming prospect in British football, just pipping Berahino for the trophy. Money has been wasted and this was all under Conte's watch, alongside his most trusted aide.
I'm not seeing the progress on the pitch and we're very hit and miss off it.
I wouldn't be at all upset if Conte moved on in this summer and frankly, I'd be happy to see Paratici following just behind.

Funny isn't it, that "Liverpool will come, United will come Chelea will come" but Spura are just lucky to be "somehow 4th"
Some folks moan about a media agenda against Spurs but many of the more negative Spurs fans talk down their own team and talk up the opposition just as much as the media are accused of doing.
As for our signings. Everyone's a fecking genius in hindsight. The amount of people here who express their delight at a signing and then 6 months later proclaim we should have done something different, is just a joke.
Everyone was excited about our signings after the ucl final, now experts like Don talk about it as a missed opportunity, as if that was what he was preaching back then.
They talk about players stinking the place out and demand new players NOW or yesterday, and will be critical in hindsight if the new players underhlwhelm..you just cannot feckin win with some fans.
It never dawns on them that if you want to avoid repeating the same mistakes then the process has to be very carefully and selectively undertaken. Let's just let the management team identify who we want, who is best, who is realistic and let them try and secure them. That may not happen now, it may have to wait until the summer in some cases. These.things take time and are not straightforward.
Chelsea spent €300m in the summer and have sacked their manager and are 8pts behind us and they still need more signings. Liverpool blew €90m on a striker and suddenly their team is looking leggy and in need of big investment.
We need probably 3 or 4 players to be truly competitive but they need to be quality,. no half measures. No Sisokko last minute panics, no Vinicious will have to do,, or he came from Barca so he must be decent Emerson-type signings. Proper talent, and until that is available and secured, of course we will have to make do with the players who secured us 4th in some style last season.

Yet, we have a limited budget in Jan what a joke. Still supporters like Devonshire just don’t get it. Got his head in the sand like many of supporters of Levy. Thankfully, that number is diminishing daily as people start to wake up.

Guarantee Chelsea and Liverpool win a trophy before us. Why? Because whilst they make mistakes, they realise they need to spend money on quality to bring the level back up again to compete and win trophies. Spurs are constantly stuck in the mud falling behind the other big clubs because we have the spineless owners and a fraud chairman who fleeces the supporters at every opportunity and pulls the wool over the eyes of clueless muppets like yourself.

And if i hear a Levy supporter say “it takes time” again ffs 🤦♂️. It’s taken 23 years and we have barely any true on field success to show for it despite all the promises. How much bloody time do you want?
