A quote from Gordon Strachan re Weghorst...

We'll always struggle to score goals because we simply don't have many goals in our team, at least for the rest of this season. We also don't create vast quantities of chances either in truth. But part of that is through not having players with the instincts to make the correct runs.

We've neglected the centre forward position for a long time now. Lukaku is the only (on paper) long term option we've signed in that role since RVP!!! And yes, he flopped but that doesn't mean we should just sign stop gaps forever more.

Goals win games, and whilst, yes, there is more to the role of a forward than that, the fact we don't have enough goals coming from other areas makes the signing of a prolific forward not desirable but essential.

Fernandes, Antony and Eriksen certainly need to start contributing more goals, and I think Garnacho needs to be given more than 20-25 minute cameos.

It is a tough one, because I think that Rashford plays best off the left, which is where you want Garnacho. That said, he might offer more of a threat than Antony on the right, so maybe give him a try there?

If it doesn't work out then it might be better that we play Rashford up top and Garnacho on the left. But Rashford doesn't have the hold-up play we need. If he could just develop that area of his game then he'd be much more valuable to us as a striker. If he had played regularly as a striker when younger than he may be better player as a number 9.

Equally, rashford might not have had the career he has had so dar had he been used centrally.

Surely Garnacho is young and 2 footed enough that could be used centrally or on the Right.

Replace eriksen with Antony and put garnacho on the right.
Eriksen is a liability in games like yesterday, he was hot trash.

As decent as we have been up to now, ETH really needs to find a way of getting more goals from the squad.

He's built a pretty pragmatic system based around us having control of the game whilst keeping defensive responsibility. We're still best on the counter, because that's how our players naturally flourish.

Change it through coaching, tactics, team selection, confidence building.
