First off, last night was always going to be difficult you can't just throw a load of players together and expect it to work straight away. But looking at the positives I think it was a good game.
1. Another clean sheet, since the signing of badiashile we've looked alot better defensively. He looks to have a good understanding with Silva already and I'm getting the same sort of vibes as rudiger early in his Chelsea career.
2. Reece James is back, yes he looked rusty but the important thing is our best and most influential player got some minutes under his belt and went off without incident. To a lesser extent chilwell also got a few minutes at the end and hopefully that can be stepped up next game. Our first choice full backs bring so much to the team both going forward and defensively, the amount of games the pair have missed over the last couple of years has killed us.
3. Enzo looked very good, especially first half, 2nd half he looked abit tired but that's to be expected following a whirlwind transfer, new country, new squad etc. His quality is clear to see and he looked more than happy and capable to get stuck in which is great news having suffered jorginho playing in that position pretty much every game for the last couple of seasons. Enzo always wanted the ball and kept things to ticking over nicely with a great range of forward passing.
4. Madueke got a 45 minute outing and looked very comfortable in his new surroundings. Lively and exciting to watch it's clear he's going to be an exciting player for us.
5. We didn't lose, fair enough we didn't manage get all 3 points but we were the better side, could have scored a couple on a different night and it was only a couple of games ago we lost to the same team. The 2nd half of the season is going to be a marathon not a sprint and hopefully tonight was the start of something really positive
Positives

Supporting Chelsea throughout the Abramovich era as a teenager was so much fun. I couldn't have been luckier, was 12 y/o when he took over in 2003 & 21 y/o when we won the Champions League in 2012. Timing couldn't have been better, it's like I was blessed.
But I'm in my 30's now, I'm not equipped for this craziness any more
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Chelsea means different things to different people - personally I had much more fun following us around such places as York, Hereford, Oldham and Carlisle on open terraces, than I have now - I honestly feel blessed to have grown up in those days.
The coming of Roman was fun because it put so many noses out of joint and ruined the happy status quo of the red noses that thought they had carte blanche on the best players around.
I suppose those days as a young lad has given me a greater appreciation of what we have now!

Biggish, on the contrary I don't think Potter is being given enough slack.
He's inherited a dysfunctional squad that desperately needed dismantling, he has now been given another crop of young players to integrate, develop and get to gel together.
I have no idea if Potter is the man for the job but he needs to be given time to prove himself.
If history has show us anything, it's that a so called big name manager doesn't guarantee success!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Brummie, he has more than enough time between now and the end of the season to improve this team. So far he has shown nothing. It has to change or he needs to go and he doesn't need next season, he needs the remaining 17 PL games to show us if he is any good. All I want is a decent improvement and some feckin goals, not trophies or top4 not worried about that.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No where near enough time in my opinion.
5 months? Take the time out for the World Cup from that, walked into an injury disaster zone, only had James an Chilwell back for the 1st time yesterday, still hasn't had the luxury of having Kante yet.
Yesterday was the first time he's had the new January signings at his disposal - I could go on with the mitigation in his favour, it really is ridiculous!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We will agree to disagree then , cause in my book he has more than enough time to make improvements in the remainder of the season. Not looing for trophies this season or next season but any decent manager should be able to impose his style and improve the team in a season given the squad we have.
This team wasn't crap last season, people seem to forget that.

Simply no excuse now for him to not show glimpses that he can get this team playing decent football. He has been here from matchday 7. He is not starting from today, but he now has the playing resources to work with. Both from returning players and new. He must have a vision of how he wants to play, and the rest of the season is ample time to start showing what that is

Plenty in terms of performances, there is some way to go but the energy, drive and effort seems higher, there are signs of partnerships being formed, eg Havertz and Felix seemed to link up very well. Our defence seems more solid and that's with Chilwell and James only just returning. And the new guys have I think all shown glimpses that given time together they may develop into a decent team.
