On Saturday Wolves welcome Spurs to Molineux.
Currently sitting in 4th place in the league table, Spurs bring with them their 21 point lead.
Having only won 2 of their previous 6 games whilst Spurs have lost only 2 of their last 6, it’s going to be a big ask for the home team to get anything out of this one.
Gem’s prediction: 2-1

Maybe that’s the difference then? I’m sure the referee doesn’t add time on when teams keep the ball near the corner flag.

The problem is that players seem to think that the clock is still running down whilst they're lying on the ground feigning injury. Bloody stupid to extend the game when you want it finished and over with. And our players have been a guilty as any.

The clock is still running though. It's supposed to be 30 seconds per substitution break. That's 3 minutes added time already. If a team can waste 7-8 minutes with breaks for injuries and general gamesmanship when the ball isn't in play (like Brentford and Bournemouth did against us), then not only can they disrupt the flow of the game; its also highly likely that they take time out of the game as referees are never going to add on 10 minutes unless there is a single major stoppage.

No way is sufficient time added at the end of games. Time should be added on for substitutions, injuries, time wasting, time taken to issue red or yellow cards, time used by the referee dealing with player complaints, and stoppages due to VAR. I think it’s very rare time is added on to cover all those delays, so time wasting does pay.
Reading that a detailed analysis was done of the 2018 World Cup. The average time added on over both halves was around 7 minutes. The time that should have been added was on average over 13 minutes. That’s what prompted the policies that resulted in high levels of added time at the 2022 World Cup
The policies that look like being introduced next season to club football should make time wasting a waste of time! And surely that has to be in the best interest of the game

Spanner would rather enjoy prematch hospitality and a prawn sandwich before watching Wolves get beat 4-0 at home to City, than endure the ignominy of having to wait for a taxi to watch Wolves beat Wigan away in front of a half full stadium.
Soccer snobbery at its finest.

The main idea of feigning injury late in games is to disrupt the momentum more than anything.

That’s true, although unfortunately some players feign injury during the whole match, not helpful to have huge amounts of added on time if you want to get the 5-30 pm train possibly popping into Sainsburys first for provisions and are in part of the ground where it takes a long time to get out of

May be worth considering retrospective video analysis and subsequent booking of players faking injury, ideally a rule as in rugby also that only the captain can speak to the ref ( who he calls sir I believe) and 10 yard distance penalty for dissent but not really going to happen in football I guess

But if the board goes up and it says four minutes surely the best thing to do is keep the ball in play as long as possible, don't make subs and ensure that you don't give the ref the opportunity to add anything extra on if you've got a narrow lead. We did it reasonably well on Saturday but there was some messing about when we won a corner, which led to the ref adding about 20 seconds to the 4 minutes.

Most of the time wasting happens before the board goes up though. The Brentford and Bournemouth games had this sort of time wasting from about 50 minutes.
