Back at home after another unsuccessful away trip. It was against Spurs, who are in 4th...so was largely expected.
Last Game Overview: We looked so much better when we attacked. A shame we were already 2-0 down.
The Good: The subs.
The Bad: Our defending. Shelvey losing his man for the first (with Worrrall leaving Aurier to mark Kane), Worrall (again) mistiming his tackle completely for the penalty, Shelvey in no-mans land for the third.
The Ugly: A lot of poor performances, but Shelvey and Worrall stood out.
Special Mention: Ayew missing the penalty - with one of the worst penalties you will see.
Overall Record: Currently we stand at W34 D27 L52
Injuries / Signings:
Boly, Henderson, Hennessey, Johnson and McKenna are all out for this one.
Koutate and Niakhate are back in full training! Could they and Awoniyi be surprise inclusions?
Wood cannot feature! Worth a point in itself!!
Your Opposition Story:
I like Newcastle. Great town, great people and passionate fans. I hope they lose.
Form:
Forest Home Form - W3 D3 L0 GF8 GA4
Newcastle Away Form - W2 D3 L1 GF8 GA4
Forest are 1.3 PPG over the last ten games. Newcastle are 1.4 PPG.
Team:
Navas
Aurier Niakhate Worrall Lodi
Yates Danilo Kouyate
Scarpa
MGW Awoniyi
If only!
We'll probably see Worrall retain his place and Colback and Shelvey in midfield.
Prediction:
Almiron was rested mid-week and came on to score the winner. Big player for them.
Newcastle have only won twice in the league this year! Which is the same as us.
2-1 to Forest if we bring in some of the walking wounded.
1-1 if we stick with the same line-up (minus Johnson and Wood).
3-1 to Newcastle if Ayew, Colback, Shelvey and Worrall start.
COYRs!!!

Wolves, Leeds and Villa coming up, these are the games that will define our season, seriously i dont think we are good enough to stay up, but saying that, there may still be 3 worse teams than us, Muff, S’ton and Everton, but that is hoping.

Dyche will pull Everton out of it, I feel.

Yeah and I think Bournemouth aren’t a bad side with their injured players back. I can see anyone from 12th down getting relegated and we are one of the favourites.

Let’s face it, the standard of refereeing is probably the worst it has ever been, but any ref would have given that penalty, i just can’t understand what Niakhate was thinking, its like playing Russian roulette with a gun loaded with 6 bullets, absolute madness. Without that crazy decision from Niakhate i think we may well have held on for a point, even if it would have been undeserved. Tonight feels like it could be a defining match in our season.

Poor guy hasn’t played since August, showed us what we’ve missed and then does that. Just a moment of madness

Yet again, Felipe was our MoM. What an amazing defender he is...

Felipe was class, but I was surprised how little impact Johnson and MGW. I would certainly be thinking twice about bringing them to Elland Road when your lot of cloggers go down.

What a rich taste! a weeds fan calling another team cloggers.

Johnson did have a very poor game. Newcastle kept him quiet and maybe hw was injured. MGW also not great but he had nothing ahead of him and was against Newcastle’s best player

Dyche/Everton will rely on cheating to get out of it and it will probably work.

Plenty of spirit and endeavour from Forest last night but we didn’t really deserve anything.
We need the same levels for the rest of the season.
Awoniyi could be the final piece in the jigsaw. He will provide something extra for defences to worry about.

Awoniyi will be vital for the remaining 11 games. He should be close to full fitness after the International break.
Kouyate in the middle also.
Henderson will probably be back…and based on our recent tactic of hoofing it to the smallest man on the pitch (Ayew), Hendo is a better penalty saver…which based on our tactic of giving away ridiculous penalties, will be needed.
MGW needs resting. Which is convenient…as we have 2 weeks off!!
