I keep hearing this statement in just about every news outlet. Sky literally open every Spurs discussion with this opening line.
On it's own yes I agree, like all of you, that our club seems to be in a perpetual downer, but are we any worse off than some of the 'usual suspects' that the likes of sky and any paper you care to name always see in the positive ?
Let's look at the current plus and minus aspects of Spurs.
Negatives:
1. Sacked manager ( again ) and can't seem to make their mind up if they want known winners or good unproven manager who can bring a 3/4 year plan with him.
2. Not won anything since 2008
3. Keep going with the same rank defenders year after year.
4. Rely way too heavily on one player, and have done for several years. Is a boom or bust strategy as we all know.
4 ceo/ owner who see the club as a business over anything else.
Positives:
1. Best stadium in Europe.
2. Fan base across the world, with a 60k sell out crowd every game.
3. Have established themselves within the so called 'top 6'
4. Regularly in the CL.
5. 7th biggest revenue figures recently published. Better to be rich than poor. Leeds fall from grace a couple of decades ago when nearly bancrupt comes to mind.
Obviously there are many more you can come up with, but these are the main ones for me.
So, compared this with clubs that are not, apparently 'in crisis'
Chelsea.
1. Just sacked their manager ( after 7 months ffs )
2. Currently sit in 11th.
3. Very little chance of European footie next season ( unless they win the CL which for me aint happening )
4. Stadium that has seen no upgrades for decades. Will cost a lot and come with a 2/3 year's of disruption. Current match day income way behind the other 'big 6' and Newcastle.
5. A very rich Ceo, but without a clue how to run a football club. Is that worse than we have with Levy ?
Liverpool.
1. Sit 8th atm. Yes could still get top 4, but when you think where they were last couple of years, this is poor.
2. Could make CL but currently 8 points off that with games running out.
3. Manager in situ for perhaps more years than usual and looks to be running out of ideas.
4. Huge squad upgrade needed, with probably the whole MF needing bought and bedded in.
Man Utd.
1. Yes a better season than expected, but with their history, spending, media expectations, is just getting CL a good outcome this season ?
2. Yes they have now got a manager in that, generally we can't really laugh at. Although his face at the end of the recent 0-7 was funny.
3. Like Spurs, they have a lot of dross in the first team squad, together with several key but aging players needing replaced sooner or later.
4. Not won the PL for a few years now and, for me, are no nearer doing this than Spurs are. When comparing the two clubs, that should be seen as a 'crisis' on its own.
So is our 'club in crisis' whilst these others are being described as 'not quite at it. Will come good any day' ( Liverpool ) I am sick of hearing Klopp tell a journo 'we need to play better' and the journo not calling him out.
They are club 'in development' ( Utd ) Stupid really given every PL club is ' in development' given we all get older.
So are Spurs worse off or not when compared with several others ?
If you factor in overall expectations, Utd Liverpool and Chelsea ( in the last 20 years ) have all been considered as competing for all the honours, yet Spurs have always been seen as making up the numbers. A solid top 6 club. So should the comparable expectations be considered when you bandy words around like 'crisis'
Discuss.
Club in crisis ??

No manager, dof might go to prison, best player may well leave, hundreds of millions in debt, no trophies of note in over 30 years,
Stadiums nice, record profits and er Beyoncé
Seriously what is the point of supporting your club if it never seems to want to actually win anything? If every single managers remit is to come fourth, get some yummy money for shareholders and maintain the status quo?
I don’t care about any other club. I care about Tottenham Hotspur. I care about the glory this club was built on. I care about the principles of Danny blanchflower, Dave McKay, Jimmy greaves, Steve perryman, glen hoddle, Paul Gascogne, Poch, Kane
I don’t care about Daniel levy announcing record profits or guns and roses.
For me this club is in crisis. It has lost its identity. List what it stands for. That is why it’s such a mess.

Everton are a club in crisis.
Awful squad of players
Resorted to a hoof ball manager to save them
18th place
Sold 2 star players to balance the books
Remaining star player is more concerned about cross dressing than getting on the end of crosses
The books are still buggered and not they are being investigated for breaching PL FFP rules.
Will likely have a transfer embargo place on them, minimum
If they are relegated are under serious threat of going bust.
Yet are still spending 100s of millions on a new stadium.
I am not denying that things have been going wrong at Spurs but Everton are the modern day "doing a Leeds" and are a warning to all those demanding new ownership, be careful what you wish for because that lot have spent over £500m in a few seasons and are now going down the toilet.
BTW you forgot to add the £1bn debt that Man Utd now have to their list of Cons.

More spurs fans getting overexcited than the media. You have it far better than most of the teams in England but cry more than any.
Shut up and relax ffs.

Spurs are more of a comedy club than one in crisis. We have an Austin Powers villain for a chairman & a Bond villain that lives on a boat for an owner. We find ways grab defeat from the jaws of victory, a slightly overrated opinion of ourselves but keep coming back for more due to some crazy deluded view of the "beautiful game & That when we play it, we do it just that little bit better than most !
There has never been a better term than "style over substance" to describe Spurs. I don't want my football team to be an efficient winning machine..... I like the Glory.... If that means we have to stumble from the odd crisis from one year to the next..... so be it

The media will always look for the positives in whatever state Varpool & Penited are in, they can`t bring themselves to go against their darlings ever.
The media are not stupid and know that they are better off standing inside the tent of the two best (glory) supported clubs and spitting out, than standing outside the tent spitting in. (I am sure there is a Carragher pun somewhere here).
It really would be wonderful if these two clubs disappeared out of existence.

One Of These Things (Is Not Like The Others)
One of these things is not like the others,
One of these things just doesn't belong,
Can you tell which thing is not like the others
By the time I finish my song?
