Feels like we just played our 99th game of the season tonight. It's exhausting as a fan nevermind as a player. 😂
I won't lie.....I'm kind of looking forward to the summer a little. I want to go on holiday and have a break from football for a few weeks. Can only imagine how the players are feeling with all these games and a world cup already played this season. It's crazy.
Obviously hoping we end up in the CL and beating City at Wembley to stop their treble bid but yeah the beach / pool is calling me now I can't lie.
Never ever ever thought I'd mutter these words in my life....but maybe just maybe theres been too much football in too short amount of time.
Don't think going all out in 4 competitions next season, with largely the same group of players, is the way to go either.
Is fan fatigue even a thing?

I maybe agree that it isn't the very strongest squad you've had over the last decade metls, but it's still way out ahead of everyone else's.
If I'm not mistaken, you only have three outfield players who've started more than 23 PL games. Arsenal have eight. That alone tells something of a story.
All also testament also to the genius of Pep and the quality of your sporting hierarchy, of course.

As I’ve pointed out elsewhere, it isn’t just the games and the aggravated micro-injuries, fatigue and short recovery times they bring, it’s the training sessions.
Newcastle will have had around a month’s worth of additional days on the training pitch than United over the season.
=====
Happens to everyone and it happened to us last season. You played like 10-15 games less than Liverpool last season or something like that.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, it doesn’t happen to everyone.
It happens to a) teams which play in Europe, and b) go deep in all three cup competitions they’re playing in.
Which is pretty rare. It usually happens to maximum one club per season.
And it has never happened with a five week break for a WC resulting in a) even more games for players and b) even more intense fixture congestion.
I’m not saying that United are some kind of unique special case in all of history, but the idea that Brighton, Newcastle and Villa’s squads, for example, have had it more or less as tough as United’s this season, which is what some people are making out, is downright hilarious.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Again, the world cup affects everyone.
I agree with the last paragraph but what's even more ridiculous is United fans going on about fatigue and number of games for weeks, bringing it up after every bad result. That's a bit pathetic.

Tbf, we're bringing it up after good results too
It's the same story after 60-70 minutes of every game at the moment, whether we're in front, level or behind: the legs visibly go, and we struggle to stay in games.
It's going to be a limp over the finish line for us.

It's probably down to something else other than games played IMO.

No I agree, like I said I think a lot of that is down to errors by others (Chelsea being the most obvious example!)

It's a bit of a twofer. We've played a lot of games, so players get tired, but then our squad also isn't great, which means we have to bring on lower quality players to fill in the gaps, and also don't get to rest players. For example, these are the starting 11s for the Brighton game that went to pens on Sunday & the starting 11 last night.
Starting XI: De Gea, Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Shaw, Dalot, Casemiro, Eriksen, Antony, Fernandes, Rashford, Martial
Manchester United XI: De Gea, Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Shaw, Dalot, Casemiro, Eriksen, Antony, Fernandes, Sancho, Rashford
Also didn't help last night that Bruno missed a sitter to make it 3-1 straight after they scored.

Don’t underestimate style of play being a factor too.

Manager makes one change from previous game. Shocker. You will be playing one game a week mostly for the rest of the season. There's been no need for a lot of rotation since you exited the Ropey League.

You just described Liverpool for the last 5 years and we done pretty alright under those circumstances.
Last night both teams missed so many ridiculous chances. You're just highlighting one of them.

Agree with this

I got to disagree. All the international breaks are enough of a gap.
