He was absolutely outstanding yesterday against Villa. Arguably the best I've seen him in a United shirt ... Man of the match indeed
He will definitely have to play on that level again though on Thursday away at Brighton , along with rest of the defense and De Gea because we all pretty much expect Brighton to be all over us.
But well done to him for yesterday
Lindelof

He's played well recently and that he been a bit of a bonus. The thing is though he, like a lot of our other players, are inconsistent. We need to see it over a much longer period IMO from all the players. Long may this form last though.

Very true. Fred is the poster boy for inconsistency. And I put it down to him being in and out of the side, out more than in.

He definitely deserves praise for recent performances but has also had some dreadful performances in the past where he’s looked weak in the challenge and easily bullied on set pieces
Hopefully he can keep the good work up till the end of the season because he’ll need to

I think having Shaw next to him gives him far more confidence.
Shaw is quick, he's strong as feck and he can actually play football, Maguire is the total opposite, well he's probs quite strong but he has the balance of an 89 year old on one leg, so that strength is useless.

It’s funny how being next to Maguire seems to turn decent footballers into crap ones. At least he’s our 5th choice CB now, hopefully he can be moved on in the summer.

There's an argument to be made that having a strong squad isn't all about getting really two top class options for all positions. It's more about getting players in the squad who can seamlessly slot in. SAF was a master at doing this even though you'd say some of the squad players weren't top class. They'd come in and know their jobs straight away. It's a balance really as really top players probably don't want to be thought of as a squad option for too long.
Lindelof on this form and selected for games that suit his style is more than adequate as an option IMO.

Let's not fall into the 'blame Maguire' for Lindelof's inadequacies of the past. He has played a couple of decent games. At one stage Maguire was good for us, you can't say that he's not generally been good in an England shirt, but it's obvious his confidence is shot to pieces. Maybe Lindelof is a back-up answer, but it seems to have been stumbled upon by ETH rather than a true belief. We will probably bring in a new CB and get rid of one or the other, depending on whether we can move them on their wages.
But a strong squad is about having a great starting 11 and then the right attitude of squad players who can come in and do a job. We seem to be lost between the 2.

Maguires had a handful of good games for United. Some decent and the majority ranging from poor to really really pathetic.
For England, we don't play teams that test us, so he's never really been tested has he?
The only half decent teams we play, we lose against.

Since Christmas in Lindelof’s starts we’re W9-D1-L1, with seven clean sheets and only seven goals conceded (three of which came in that second leg against Sevilla).
Bearing in mind he hasn’t been starting alongside Martinez on most of those occasions, and has played several games that Casemiro was out for, and that looks like a very strong record.
