from large sections of our supporters about where Spurs are right now in the league, they are just about in their natural position 6th/7th/8th, where they have been for large parts of their history.
They have ever been a great league side, even under Sir Billy Nicholson, yes the won the league, and had two or three top three places, but most seasons they finished 6th/7th/8th or lower. They were always known as a cup side under Sir Billy. So I don`t get the complete meltdown from lots of our fanbase, that Spurs should be winning titles. When has that ever happened in their 140 year history. Just two titles tells you everything.
They have never ever been a consistent side, so it is nothing new to see the ups and downs of the current season. Yes, they could be playing better, but it is what it is with the current squad, they are not very good.
Two areas Spurs never replaced, CBs and Midfield. Toby and Verts have been replaced with the Chuckle brothers Dier and Romero. And Eriksen and Dembele have been replaced with PEH and Skipp. Even a peak Dele has not been adequately replaced, and until all those positions are addressed, then it will be win one, lose one on a regular basis.
When Winks was moved on from midfield, I did not envisage he would be replaced with Skipp. Yes it was unfortunate that both Bissouma and Bentancur were both injured at the same time, which let Skipp in, with no other alternative, other than Sarr (who I personally think is a far better player). Anyway with the return of Bissouma, I suspect that is the last we will see of Skipp starting. Next season I would expect Skipp to be back to 4th choice at best. Small steps at a time. Dier and Skipp out of the 1st XI will at least be a start in the long rebuild going forward.
Onto yesterday`s game, poor performance all round. Romero is such a liability, was responsible in some way for both goals. He is so reckless. I can put up with him as a squad player next season, but needs replacing along with Dier. I don`t get all the hype around him. He is as culpable as any for the bad defending. Rash in the tackle, yellow or red cards, gets caught out of position. Just a very average CB. I am astonished he gets such a free ride.
Son, as well for all his experience of playing at this level, yesterday he was like a schoolboy. Acres of space to run into, and he was getting caught offside time after time. Atrocious that a player of his experience that he should have been caught offside so many times.
Two games to go now. I expect a win against Brentford, Leeds game could be anything. Still think they may sneak Europa. Although obviously wouldn`t mind Brighton stuffing the Woolwich today, even if it means Spurs don`t get Europe, win/win really.
As for the manager, who knows. And finally we can stop the silly chanting for Pochettino, it`s so embarrassing. He don`t love Spurs as much as his fanboys think he does. Hopefully he gets it in the ear on his first visit back. That`s if he is still in charge.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

How we make decisions is a joke. Apparently according to ITK's it was Kenny Dalgliesh who recommended Poch to Joe Lewis whilst on his yatch. Kenny was there with Craig Johnstone and his wife Vivienne Lewis.

It's embarrassing. We already knew he wasn't our first choice because Levy wanted LVG.
Our best decisions don't come from well thought, laid out plans but from passing conversations between our owners and retired legends of other clubs. Honestly our board have as much football knowledge and acumen as a footballers' WAGs.

My main gripe with the club and Levy is that under Poch we we’re challenging for major honours . Poch no delt met with Levy and told him what was needed , but because he’s a cheap Priiick decided to fire him.
We then persisted with two has beens who can only win major honours with unlimited funds .
Levy doesn’t back them and fires them when he’s exposed to the press by Conte.
He has allowed England's best strikers contract to nearly burn out rather than selling him for a ludicrous amount that could have been invested in the team and maybe pushed us on to silverware, he hires a Sporting director whom he knew was in with fat Tony and likely to be banned.
We are now stuck with no DOF and Levy’s acting manager as the go to man when no one is left .
It’s an utter shambles of a club and we then wonder why the team is a state, it all falls back to one man.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So many poor decisions since that moment Levy didn't back Poch that have lead us to where we are now. He should have stuck with Poch and thought about getting a new DOF then to help us with our recruitment, because it was lousy in the last couple of years Poch was there - Aurier, Nkoudou, Janssen, Sissoko, Sanchez, GLC, Ndombele.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I honestly reckon Poch aid to Levy sell Kane and reinvest , Levy then Shat the bed and fired him.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Don't reckon he would have said to sell Kane, don't think any manager would, but he did want an overhaul and it was easier to just look at the form we were in and get rid of Poch.

Absolute farticle, so because we've had a succession of useless owners in our history, we should accept we will be losers forever rather than demanding better.
This club did once win the double, the first british winners of a European trophy. Take away the last 30 years of useless ownership and our major trophy count would be up around 30 rather than 17.

That's not what the article says Billy. Yes Spurs have had their moments, but they have never really challenged much for the league throughout their long history.
I was there when they won the Double, I was there when they were relegated. I applauded the side of both times. It's what supporters do. You take the rough with the smooth.

I can't be bothered to read all the comments so sorry if this has been said already but I can't understand why you're saying it's fine to finish 6th, 7th, 8th because we have a history as a cup side. We haven't won even a League Cup for 15 years.

You applauded Spurs when they were relegated? Like clapped them off the pitch for finishing in the relegation places? Are you telling porkies Sandy?

Still think we are finishing 6th, Sandy?

And Eriksen and Dembele have been replaced with PEH and Skipp

From the poster that defended PEH and Skipp to me a couple of months ago and said "they always try hard"
